Hi have a lassie who wants to wear her corsage around her neck on a ribbon.

Does anyone have an idea on what to use for the base/support. Should I use a wristlet and turn it 1/4 turn? My brain is dead and I can't think of what to use.

TIA

A wristlet base? Sounds a bit painful to wear.

If you're thinking choker, a nice, soft #5 ribbon with petite blossoms glued using Oasis adhesive is fast and effective. I posted a photo of one previously but the image has disappeared. Will see if I can locate the original at the shop.

For more of a draped necklace effect, you can use the lightest flowers possible and build a crescent shape using the traditional tape and wire techniques and tie color-coordinating ribbon to each end.

No photos, but we've also made a few using the colored Oasis wire as a base. Again, petite floral accents are attached with Oasis Adhesive.

As with any new skill, we recommend testing these in the shop first before sending them out on orders. HTH

Use pipecleaners for your necklace.

Make two loops. Bind them behind the corsage. Interlock the two loops in back. This will be an adjustable necklace corsage.

If you think about it you may be able to lock the two loops behind the corsage.

Depending on the color of the pipe cleaner you may want to have it seen.

Otherwise, in order to hide the mechanics of the pipecleaner, think of somethin soft that can be wrapped around the pipecleaners.

HOpe this helps

use some of the alum wire great for the base, very plyible.you make the wire like a coker or little longer, make a knot or a small flat plat form to glue flower on use dendrovium,or spray rose makes a wonderful neckless

dmpcola,

That's not me, that's Sheri White, ex president of Texas State Floral...

Yes, that is J in the background.

That's kind of scary.

And way(weigh) over the top, and to be honest, not nice.

I prefer a more delicate look.

If I remember correctly there are some floral necklaces shown in the new John Henry Prom book. I know that there is one similar to J's, and it was constructed on paper or display board.

Connie, you're correct. We did feature a few different types of floral necklaces. In addition to the one you mentioned, we did a drop necklace using aluminum wire, and a choker using a piece of ribbon. Both had flowers attached using Oasis Floral Adhesive.

We also featured floral rings, earrings, bracelets, and an anklelet.

I'm glad that i'm not the only one to find that that neck corsage was crazy huge. I'm also not fond of the idea of using pipe cleaners to tie a corsage around a lady's neck. I'm thinking more along the lines of making a beautiful bead necklace or chocker on some stretch cord and attaching and a cymbidium orchid with some wire so she could keep the necklace afterwards. This all depending of course of how much your customer expects to pay. If looking for something inexpensive, a beautiful thin ribbon (so she doesnt have to sport a huge bow on the back of her neck) would be appropriate, in my eyes.

Inka,

Fitz designs has the choker bases that match their corsage bracelets, a little pricey but, they will do the trick nicely. Here is the link:

Lol, okay I just saw that this was a post from the "archives". It's a little late for my suggestion ;)

I use tubette - satin covered wire product from Lion/Offrey - I glue small flowers to a piece of # 40 ribbon and then sandwich it over the tubette. You can make a loop of the tubette to hook the flowers around her neck. You need to measure so you don't make it too tight ;0 Try to make sure the flowers don't over lap the ribbon too much ... they can be itchy!

Chokers were quite popular when I was younger. They were mostly made of a heavier ribbon with silk ties, and a small focal point, like a cameo on the front. So, if you are looking for a retro look, you might want to try this idea.

I'm glad you sent it absolutly wonderful bands .I cant wait to use them.i have used some of the beads but the rhinstones are gourious.
thanks

About 20 years ago for my junior prom I used #9 aqua ribbon with a #9 white lace overlay and sewed the two together. I added bra hooks to the ends, had to measure my neck exact. Then stapled a gardenia to it. I was way ahead of the times back then. Now they have all kinds of neat stuff to make into necklaces. The fitz chokers are real nice, but you can get real creative with the wire. You just have to be real careful about sharp points. Good luck and use your creativity.

Found the shot of the choker I mentioned back in the second post. Just a simple real satin (not florist satin) ribbon with fresh materials glued on with Oasis adhesive. The dangles are made of liatris florets strung on monfilament.
