About 20 years ago for my junior prom I used #9 aqua ribbon with a #9 white lace overlay and sewed the two together. I added bra hooks to the ends, had to measure my neck exact. Then stapled a gardenia to it. I was way ahead of the times back then. Now they have all kinds of neat stuff to make into necklaces. The fitz chokers are real nice, but you can get real creative with the wire. You just have to be real careful about sharp points. Good luck and use your creativity.

Reminds me a lot of a choker I made for myself, back in the day. I took a length of 1" wide black velvet ribbon, just about 1/4" shorter than my neck measurement, sewed hook and eye closures onto the ends, and tacked a cameo onto the ribbon with a couple stitches top and bottom. Held up really well, and was cute.
