Need help with large wedding church bouquet

Oh...one more thing...make sure you use an Oasis DESIGNER block, not separate Oasis blocks stacked on top of each other. They can crumble with that many stems and water
will not soak up to the top ones. Designer blocks are heavy as ****, but worth it to keep big arrangements together! Bet you do a good job...and get more weddings wanting large altar designs!
OH....and another tip...we do not use the big Lomey trays for this size design. Go to Home Depot and get the heavy duty plastic trays that go under plant pots..not the flimsy kind, but these look like terra cotta...and also come in green. They also have a nice deep lip around the edge. Your greenery will cover this. You need the 14"
or 16" ones. Have had a 15" Lomey tray pop into with the weight as we were carrying it into the church years ago!

Ok, I was going to use the humongous blocks of oasis, but I was planning to just fit them in the plastic urns in a traditional way. I'm thinking using a tray and just setting it on top of the urns might give me better use of the foam (more surface area to use). Is that why you use the trays rather than just putting it in the urns, even if the urns are fully able to hold water, etc. Sorry, again, I'm such a novice at such large designs like this.

I will also strongly consider some dedros. I just hate paying so much for a flower if it's not going to perform up to its price--y'know, bang for buck.

Yes, that is one of the reasons. The other main one being the ease of transport..flat bottom trays and empty urns travel in my van much easier, and weigh a lot less carrying them in the venue!

Just some pix from the wedding. I feel like my designs were mediocre at best, but they were happy with them. I have definitely learned a thing or two for the next time!

Beautifu arrangments......KUDOS to you.

Now that you have your first B-I-G arrangements over with.....the next time will be easier.

WOW! I love those two arrangements. I love how you presented those arrangements on skirted tables. Talk about a HUGE presentation. You are very talented, just love it, good job.

I told my husband when I got home from delivering that I would never take orders for large wedding arrangements ever again! That's started to wear off just a little today! Two more wedding consults this week--oh boy!

Very pretty, the dendrobs looked real nice, gave them some grace...beautiful job...midiocre my butt, they were stunning...

I'm the queen of self-doubt! Thanks for all your kind words! The dendros did come in looking fabulous. I just wished that they draped down even more. The original plan was to set the bouquets on top of black urns, but it would have just been too tall for the church. When I talked to the bride's father yesterday, he said they just left them at the Shriner's hall where the reception was--maybe they could enjoy them. Said they were too big to take home! I previously suggested they just pull the main stems out and take home to vase, but they didn't want to mess with that. I hope someone enjoyed them!

I hope someone enjoyed them!

Sometimes we forget that the lowly flower arrangement is a combination of many many hands. From the moment it has been cut by a farmer, packaged by a processor, hauled by a truck driver, flown by an pilot, handled by a wholesaler, re delivered by a truck driver, processed by a florist, arranged by a florist, it's sits there, a beacon for all of us, and a performer of glory. At that point it does not belong to us anymore, it belongs to the one admiring it's splendor.

WOW that was deep!
