New Teleflora design book.

I saw it at a friend's shop today. Gorgeous photography, lots of unavailable product for smaller shops, and the usual unrealistic pricing suggestions. I do like the funeral section as a seperate book though.

Like the book, it is good quality..the pages are waterproof and easily kept clean...I don't think they will tear either...went over the pricing of flowers, major problems with price of roses, orchids, hydrangea and a few others...but mostly on point for everything else....haven't even delved into containers, greens or fruit and gourmet yet!!!

Even though I'm not a member, I'm curious....

Are they showing things like 800Flowers does? I mean, Lisanthus for instance. An item that is not readily available to some, and considered expensive by many for what you get. Are the designs showing most of the flowers in the image with the "this is an all around design" disclaimer (that the consumer does not read) ?

Mark, they are showing a lot of roses, orchids and hydrangea for upper end arrangements...lots of low round mounds(modern design), then some of the regular old standbys...

If you want I can let you log onto my workstation later and you can look at the book....just call me...

Exactly all the flowers are showing on one side and then they say it's an all around arr. Also some of the colors of things would be hard to get even if you had the flower. Like peppermint cut amaryllis.

Unfortunately the book shows mostly designs that feature special vases and containers. I can't even show this book to my customers because I don't have single one of these containers in my store.

There is very little room for substitutions when it comes to the containers. I want to say that 85% of the products are shown in some type of TF container. This is really bad and I don't see us being able to use this unless I invest some serious money into a new line of vases and containers. Which is honestly not in my best interest.

Listen Teleflora if you want us to send orders through the network you got to give us things that can be easily filled with realistic flowers that can be carried in our shops year round and give us other options of using containers that we can easily keep in our store.

I was really looking forward to seeing some simple products that could be sent to any shop with basic design knowledge and not have to worry if a Teleflora florist would have the container.

What’s wrong with offering a mixed garden basket that features kalanchoe as the flower plant? Its very difficult to have mini rose plants and African violets with that many blooms.

I would of liked to of seen 4 new arrangements in a 999 vase in different colors.
A few of these arrangements upgraded in a 905 vase.
How about a new dozen roses in a classic rose vase with some misty instead of babies breath.

For the past year I have had a Teleflora section on my website. I have had a hand full of orders placed for those products that have been sent to other Teleflora Shops.

But the majority of the arrangements that have been sent to other shops have been some of our simplest designs.

It jsut may be a better Idea to go with 800flowers designs and I'm really really sorry I am even thinking about doing this.

Eric....you are right on so many points...I was outraged when I heard about these new line of containers...I don't have the room for them, I also do not want to buy them...I do carry some of them, but as a trial basis, I really wasn't sure I wanted to keep carrying them...I like to change my stock all the time, I really don't like my regulars getting the same tired vase each and every time they order...This is one main reason I hate the internet so much, I really stifles us that like a boutique feel...I like to buy different flowers every week and just sell pretty arrangements, sometimes the web world just doesn't agree with this method of selling, as does this book...I am having some really good feedback on the TF sympathy line of containers...people love them and I am in sympathy world 80% of the time...

So no problems on the sympathy section for me...I really havn't had that much time to really go over what is in this book and really break down what is and is not salable for me...I will be pricing this book and my website properly and paring down the selections to arrangements that I can make well and carry the flowers for...I have identified some of the arrangements in the old book as arrangements that I just don't make well and removed them from my pages...why offer something I suck at making, it just doesn't make sense...I feel you, Eric and agree on many points, but the photography is very nice, almost to the point of too nice and fake looking...and the paper is a really great quality...I just hope that they make less arrangements to add to the book and focus more on sabale items and quality items rather than 30 new 30.00 hard to make silliness to load up the book and webpage everey 3 months.

I'm looking for some advice. The new TF (the HUGE box) came in the other day. One of my employees signed for it. I have not opened it as I was mulling over whether to keep it or not. After reading all your comments I don't think I want to keep it. I agree with Eric, that for the most part, our customers pick out mostly simple flower arrangements that are colorful, with the exception of the White Garden. For some reason people order that dish garden alot. Anyway since I am going to send in my letter to quit TF and stay with Bloom for now, I am wondering if I can send this HUGE box back to TF? I was maybe going to keep it as I know other flower shops will use it & I could refer to it as needed and I thought if the pictures were really nice I still could use it as a tool in my business, but now I am thinking different. What do you all think, can I still return this box unopened? and should I? :) Thanks!

I'm sure you can return but wonder if you would ever get your money back for it? I still haven't opened mine but from some of the comments on here I'm afraid as I said in my first post. Small town here and I don't want the containers or the hard to find flowers.
I remember answering the Emails about the new book guess they didn't read any of them or even look at them.

Under membership rules it is your membership duty to accept and pay for this book, They do site the membership rules on myteleflora.com...sorry to say even if you send it back, you will be charged for it....

Like Lori said... rules are rules, and they get to make all the rules... remember kids... it's THEIR GAME and not yours...

As to the containers... they are going to push them and feature them just like FTD does, they make a HUGE PROFIT on forcing you to buy containers. That's one thing 800F has going for them, mostly generic containers...

and very generic arrangements, but no leeway on recipes and pricing...so they all have their pros and cons...you can lose your shirt on 800-flowers as far as money goes and filling, but their products are small packs and affordable, but can lose your shirt even worse on fees and container costs with TF, but you have the freedom to say no I cannot fill that arrangement for what you sold it at and freedom to fill to value....6 of one half dozen of another...but I will choose my freedom to decide anyday!!!

I'm in the process of puting a list together of all of the containers that will be needed to in order to offer the products that are part of Birthday and Occasion section.

I'm at 32 products so far with 6 that are Syndicate Sales Containers and the rest are Teleflora Codified Products. Hopefully I will have the complete list by the end of the day with total dollars needed in order to offer these products to our customers.

The most difficult part will be that some of them require that you purchase 2 to 6 different colors in order to get the Suggested Prices that Teleflora says the containers will cost.

Thanks for the input. I was hoping since Mark said to return to sender that maybe I could get away with not accepting the book but I guess I might as well keep it as long as I have to pay for it :( not happy bout that! Lessons to learn, read the rules! Oh well, I am going to send in my letter to terminate tomarrow. At least I won't have to be paying $15 a month for the updates on the book. Another lesson in life learned, just hope I can remember it! Old age you know! lol!
