I don't think it is coming to an end. The lack of literacy is visible more and more each day. The basterdization of the language has been tolerated for so long, many accept it as the norm.

Umm Vic - hate to point it out but it's spelled bastardization.:rofl::rofl:

Well, I may draw some fire for this statement. It does say in the Bible that we will get wiser and weaker. I see kids today who have a difficult time doing simple adding and subtracting. I went by a fast food place the other day to get something for breakfast as I was on the run that day......and I kid you not, the kid had to ask someone to help him count change.

I have two very precious neices and two wonderful great-nephews, all but one is in school. Trust me, Uncle Ricky stays on top of their education and I have butted heads more than one time with a teacher. In fact, I was told a few days ago that my oldest neice Shelby, 2nd grade student, is reading on a fourth grade level. The teacher asked my sister how this happened.....My sister told her in no uncertain terms.....because my older brother comes over to my house almost nightly and they read together.

I was also told that the teacher wanted to try and discourage that as that put her ahead of the class.....and my sister told her to never talk like that again, that Shelby's uncle will go ballistic if he finds out that she is being held back from being educated to her potential.

Let's not forget penmanship!. My daughter graduated in 2001 a product of public school, and she has the penmanship of what I call a "homicidal maniac". My niece, who went to Catholic school has beautiful penmanship. This is truly going to be a dying art.
