diluadid, oxycodone, morphine.....JB.....Are you a shining example of 'better living through chemistry'?

lol

Ya think???

Good luck Marilee! I'm closing my shop on Monday for 3 days to take care of my mom who just got home yesterday from knee replacement surgery. (She's now had both of them done.) This time she chose a different doctor/hospital. They strongly believe in pain control and also gave her vallium. They want you to be happy so you will do your physical therapy! And about being confined to a hospital bed for four days? Don't count on it! They get you up & around as soon as possible after the surgery. You will most likely have about an hour of physical therapy the day of the surgery and the other three days you're there as well. Home health will then come out to her for a couple weeks to minimize the getting in & out of the car thing. (She lives in a very rural area.) This has been a long process for her. (Ask me AFTER your surgery :)!) My grandma also had it done and it went so smoothly. Best wishes for a quick recovery!!

Thank you ALL so much for your thoughts and good wishes for my recovery. I now understand why I needed to post, your words (even Carols :)) are exactly what I need during this pre surgery panic. One more day to go before my new journey begins and today I am feeling much better emotionally equiped while preparing for the trip. As a tip to anyone else who may be going through an unknown surgery or event , a dear friend spent some time with me last night and we did some positive projections. My task today is to find old photos of myself riding a bike and magazine cut outs of ladders. I am suppose to hang these photos and papers on a wall where I can easily see them, and then I am to close me eyes and visualize myself riding that bike and going up and down the ladder while feeling pain free!! Great positive feed back and it is already working, replacing fear and stress with positive outcomes. COOL STUFF HUH???? You have all been so kind and I cant thank you enough for your advise and kindness. I promise to keep you informed if you would like. My life is now in the hands of my hospital team of experts, lets hope they all get a good nights sleep tonight and are in good spirits tomorrow morning.

Good luck with your surgery! Take care of you first for a change and the rest will be okay. Best wishes.

Hey there Marilee!
Sure hope that you bounce back and hop on down the road!
You will do great, and keep your head held high.
Best wishes are sent your way, take care.

O.K., Marilee,

Here is my take on your situation.

I think you planned this whole scenero so you wouldn't have to room with Bobbi,. me and Twyla at AIFD symposium.

Carry on.

Carol Bice

Yeah...that was the plan: You, Carol, Bobbi and I all rooming together!! Oh well-another year.

Best of luck to you and the Doctors (and Nurses too). I can only imagine how "antsy" you will be to return to work. Take your time. Remember all those days when you said to yourself "I really need a day off". Well now's your chance. It really is surprising how well your staff can do when you trust them. We are here for you and I'm only a phone call away...any time.

ps Don't go to the shop "Loaded". It's not so much fun for the others at the store.

Hey hey hey! I think I resemble that remark.

Take the advice and take your meds...quicker to heal.
i had my gall bladder out and went back in two days......big mistake...and I was stubborn (because I hate taking pills) and didn't take my pain pills. got tired faster, took longer to heal.... worked through the pain, that was Stupid.

A good time of year to get that surgery. Summers are slow and I'm sure whoever is running the store will surprise you.

Good luck with the surgery and therapy.

I had major surgery last year on Jun 30th(Gastric bypass) closed the store for a week and then worked 1/2 days for a week....The shop survived and so did I....You will be fine, staff will surprise you....I know full well what it is like to be a control freak, it ain't easy sittin at home twitching....The meds will help put you in teh I don't give a crap state of mind...

Good luck on your recovery and better luck on the antsyness of going back to work too early....

Sending warm, healing thoughts your way!

And yes, the visualization does work. Just be sure you do it with "emotion" as that is what energizes it!

All the best,
Frank

the most important part of recovery is not to skip ANY of the rehab visits.....go to the clinic ! that 'DO IT AT HOME' rehab does not work 1/2 as well !
My sister thought she KNEW BETTER and messed up royally . She had to have the surgery over !
