Anyone have any idea what the date for OFC 2006 is? I have a friend planning a trip up and I would like to make sure I don't have a date conflict.

Thanks,
Audra

Ooooo... it's in TO this year! I might be able to swing that one!

Can we come too? Is anyone from the States registered? How freakin cold is it going to be? Give me more info... will the squirt be there from FTD? yUCK!

Of course you can come. It's not that cold up here in October. This isn't really a frozen tundra. ;)

Audra, I will do my very best. It will be great to see you again too. :)

All FlowerChatters need to come. Seriously, it's a quality event co-ordinated by a stellar and dedicated volunteer group of florists. The success in recent years is a testament to their hard work and the willingness of florists to embrace a good thing.

Florida, Michigan, Texas ... bring 'em all!!

Do they have a web site for more info?

Those thinking of attending from the States, remember to bring Birth Cert or Passport.

You betcha.....

We'll keep it above 60 degrees for you!!( 'specially for you!!)

Great florists, great pics, but a sponsor who is deceitful and competes against the industry I strive to save? Na. - Sorry to be the wet blanket.

Daz - Don't bite off your nose to spite your face. FTD writes a cheque to make this happen ... in fact, they stepped up and saved the event a few years ago.

They are also very respectful of the decisions of the organizing committee. The conference is planned and executed by a volunteer group of florists. FTD does provide a team of very competent and under-appreciated people who work behind the scenes.

This conference has been and continues to be open to all florists - from any WS, or independent. TF chooses not to attend (old news), but even Peter from Blossoms Network is a regular attendee.

It would do you much good to attend, Daz. And we'd al love to meet you in person. Put away the wet blanket and come have some fun. You might even learn stuff :)

Well that leaves me out ;)

Actually, I am going to try and make it this year myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The event isn't successful because of who writes the cheque Brandon, it's because of the involvement of forward thinking, caring, intelligent, willing to share, great people. :) Oh, and really fun too!

Daz....

forget about your politics...this is FOR florists, WITH florists, and ABOUT florists!! (supposedly all your friends until otherwise noted!!)

OFC is spearheaded by florists.....always has been and always will be!!

FTD a few years ago became the major sponsor of this event and with that sponsorship the conference went up a several notches, but there are several other sponsors as well some of which sell solely to retail florists and some that also sell to grocery stores and the like.....and yes even some flower shops that most of us here call OG's have attended too..........What better way do you know of to get to know your competition better than to sit in the same room as them?

The OFC has been long known for it's excellent workshops, seminars and design shows. And of course there's no better way to way to learn the newest trends and happenings than to meet with your peers!!!, and you can get all this at the next OFC in Toronto.

I cannot begin to say how much I learned at this OFC, you can't label this event FTD and just write it off without doing injustice to the people that work so hard to make it happen. Yes, FTD spends cash on this event but it's the florists that are the focus. It's accented with a varied and interesting tradeshow, a great planning committee and a very lively group of flowers.

It sounds like I may get to go to this next OFC and I'm thrilled at the prospect! I look forward to getting a chance to talk with the friends I already have here and meeting the ones that I haven't gotten to meet face-to-face yet.

My reply is on the political forum, no need to get in the way here.

You're all great florists, but supporting the enemy leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I'm at the point where there is no justification, even to meet brilliant minds, to support FTD in one single way.

You guys have fun and be sure and spread around the room butterfieldblooms.com since I won't make it. :)

Fall Foliage at OFC?

Oct 21-22 - Everyone should be there. This has grown far beyond being a local convention.

So, in looking as some of the pictures from the past OFC, my wife will be able to see some fall foliage? We never see that here in south Texas.

Since FTD is not having a convention this year....might consider going.
