I see many of you are against these order gathering websites. I recently joined Teleflora and FTD as a trial member (we haven't been a member in over 20 yrs and just taking advantage of the free offer :kyle) Just curious, who are top order gathering websites I should be aware of. Is there a top 5 from Teleflora and FTD? It seems FromYouFlowers is a popular topic of discussion here! Just curious bc there seems to be 100's of them and I have no idea how to discern a good shop and a OG. Thanks in advance!

Good Luck on the ""FREE"I have found it costs me a great deal of time and money to get them to stop the subscription and then it is up to me to monitor my transactions. I just tried Floral Source for two months and so far I owe them according to the invoice, sound familiar.

from you flowers and just flowers keep popping up for me. They are notorious for sending below minimums, sometimes they are very specific and will want money back if not filled to their request. Stay away if you can.

Type in "flowers" & the name of your city into the top search engines. The first 7-10 listings are the "OG's" posting in your town.

Why, why, why would you want to reinstate yourself from the wire services when you have successfully operated without using them?

I'm been wanting to put on this forum somewhere how HAPPY I am to finally be free of it. I quit in May, knowing that I would still be in the directory and obligated until August. I immediately disconnected and sent back the Mercury (even though it took FTD over two months to get their crap together and have it picked up), willing to pay all remaining membership dues. HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY with my decission.
It took me years to finally get up the nerve and do it.
And, boy, am I glad I did it.

I have no wire service stress anymore. I am Teleflora, have the Eagle System - have to be for a while. But, I've come to terms and peace with being Teleflora. I don't receive.com orders, nothing from FU, reject Welsey Berry. Don't accept anything that doesn't feel comfortable.
I'm much nicer to be around these days.
I haven't posted any negative thoughts on antiwire threads in a long time.

Why would you let them coerce into joining?
Your time and energy would be so much more better spent developing your own image. Your own web site, reflecting what and how you do.
I just looked and found a Teleflora site for you. Do you have another?

I'm sorry to be so passionate, I have just seen many of my peers go down in recent years. I'm sure that there is more to go. I blame the wire services and wire service mentally on the part of the business owners as a big part of the failure. We have allowed ourselves to be so totally dependent on them. At least, I have. But, was smart enough to see the pending fall and took action.

On a similar note, I've been following the thread on BBrooks. Thinking about it. Have come to the same conclusion. Why would I want another wire service???? Not gonna pursue it. Don't think that it makes sense anymore in our day of google.

I spaced saying that it was FTD I quit.

thanks but...

So I should be aware of JustFlowers and FromYouFlowers...those are the big 2? I dont recall getting orders from either of them...=)

Jamesp...don't take this personally, but your actions and questions make me wonder exactly how long you've actually been in this business.

You seem intent on hearing specific names...we could all give you more than a few, but what good is that going to really do you?

I cannot imagine the thought process that caused you to re-enter the stadium with the LIONS!

WS's are worse now at disrespecting filling florist more than ever...why would you take a few free months (probably in fine print membership fee only, not everything), It will be hell to get out when FREE is over. Just ask me and others about that.

Best wishes, and I'm hoping you reconsider the Free Deal.

I am Teleflora as well.

I have been noticing more orders trying to come through Teleflora Headquarters but I have been rejecting them. Mostly because of the below priced products but also since Teleflora has decided once again to use our shop name to gather orders. Since they offer a way for customers to choose which florist they would like to fill their order I feel that this would be the last straw from filling orders from headquarters.

If anyone here is so concerned about who sends what just raise your minimums around $50.00 plus your delivery charge and see how many orders you get.

I have a challenge for all of you.

Since we always fail at getting a group effort to stop filling all of these orders how about we just take a baby step.

How about if we all raise our minimums for incoming to say around $50.00 plus delivery and see how long those OG's last?

No more $29.99 balloon bouquet from Gift Tree.
No more three rose budvase with chocolates and stufff animals for $34.99 from FTD.com.
And my favorite Fields of Europe from 1800flowers for $34.99 delivered.

Can you Imagine?

You know, Eric, that doesn't sound like such a bad idea.
I have a $40.00 min and stick to it, even for friends.
Have to, what's 73% of $40.00 = $29.20.
Can't possibly do for less. Our delivery is now $10.95.

The problem will be that are still plenty of short sighted foolish florists who will grab at anything we don't accept.

Plus, I think that $50.00 is a little high for many clients. I send out wires for many elderly clients, who just can't afford any more. I have a $6.95 wire out fee and keeping it at $40.00 still makes it around $50.00.

I won't send out what I wouldn't accept.

jamesp07,

There are many OGs, but you should pay a particular attention to those who are offering discounts, such as $5-10 off or "free delivery."

For example, JustFlowers and Wesley Berry are offering $10 off these days. There is a very good chance that they are actually passing all the $10 discount to filling florists.

So I should be aware of JustFlowers and FromYouFlowers...
YES! They both gather and far as I can tell skim dollars off the top of the orders.

The list is so pervasive that a "top 2-3" is impossible as it varies by region...

Check out this Google Search for Jersey City NJ how many are not real?

Others that are bad... Blossom Florist, Kay's, and 100 others...all in the same boat...do as another member suggested, check out floristdetective.com it'll open your eyes....

If the first 7-10 are OGs then shame on the real florists in that city for not even trying to compete. There is no good reason reason florists shouldn't be in the top 10 spots.

A florist has to compete for one city, and maybe some surrounding areas. An OG has to compete in over 10,000 cities (US Census) including over 95 with population > 200,000, plus all the surrounding burbs, etc.

James, I think you are asking the wrong question. Being a big OG isn't necessarily the same as being a bad OG. What you want to rule out are the bad ones, the ones that skim, the ones with deceptive advertising or deceptive addresses, etc.

As far as raising the minimums to $50, I don't see it. In these tough times we want people to order flowers even if they can only spend $30 (or less). Then, hopefully, when things improve they will spend more. The OG don't talk people into ordering cheaper arrangements. They sell the people what they want to buy. I would respectfully advise that you do the same.
