Plugging a Hole!

On the really stuborn containers with holes, I use duct tape then mix up some "plaster of paris" and put in on top of the tape.

Are you just poring enough to cover the holes, or are you pouring several inches? I stay away from plaster of paris in ceramic which I think she is using because it expands and sometimes cracks porous pots. Sometimes when using plaster, if the pot is warmer or colder than the plaster, the plaster will separate from the pot and thats the last thing you need once you've delivered the piece. Using duct tape on porous pots is futile. Even gaffers tape won't seal. Its best to line the pots with plastic. If the hole is larger than a quarter a piece of wood veneer or even a inverted plastic tray is best if you are worried about water bursting through the plastic, but usually not if you use a large enough piece of floral foam.

The plastic we use is cut from heavy grade contractor bags that we use to line our trash cans, the clear stuff.

I usually only use about an inch or so. As it cures, it heats up and will expand. This can crack the vessel, so you need to be careful. I don't believe that I have ever had a problem when I only use and inch or even 2.
