my least favorite thing to design is small repetative arrangements. Like silly carn and mum baskets for hospitals....

May favorite would be any funeral work and tropicals...

Those customers who say, Do your own thing! Something different, not the usual flowers or designs. And especially the $150 - $200 sympathy designs where they say "I want Wow!" (that price range is not a normal range here)

my favs

My favorite would be when customer comes in and says money isn't a problem, "do your thing, work your magic" I have a few customers that come in and say that, I love a design challenge also, one of those customers that come in and say can you........hehe gets your wheels spinning kind of arrangement. Anything different then the norm and something original one of a kind!!! I also love to do Casket sprays, not your typical ones, but ones that make you say wow, bibles, cross's, fruits, veggies, wagon wheel, anything you can imagine putting in a casket arrangement I have probably had to put in one at one time or another!! BUT I love it!!!
Least fav, anything small, I can make a large arrangement 10 times faster then a small one, LOl, not sure why. I hate the tiny small arrangements when you don't have alot of money to work with and you still want to make an impression on a new customer.

Websites.

Still learning tho...

I love to make anything once or twice maybe even three times but I hate to make the same thing over and over and over again!
My favorite type of work is sympathy work. It is so personal to me for some reason.

least favorite - calla lily boquets
Also dislike when a customer wants an arrangement but says they hate carnations and mums and then only wants to pay $30.00 AHHH OK !!??

absolute favorite - When they tell me to work my magic, just do whatever I want, "I want wow" The more funky and unusual the better

Love that !!!!

Yummy things

Love casket sprays, scary I know but love it, Big big things, glamourous things, hate roundy moundy crap. works for some, but not in my shop.

Favorite...

Tight handtied bouquets (for weddings/proms/etc) or anything that I can be creative on and do something totally crazy :)

Least favorite...

I have to agree with others...those $30.00 arrangements where someone wants no carns or poms...give me a break hahahah :)

"I trust you"... that's my favourite thing of all.

My favorite design to make is when the customer tells me that the flowers are for a man who is an ourdoorsman, so make something with that sort of theme. My favorite is to create a design which suggests a riverbank without the river or fishing poles, etc. Just the peaceful forest edge.

Least favorite? Cannot think of one. I have to be in the office so much of the day that when I get to design, it is a time of joy.

Favorite things

I don't have a "favorite thing" to design - I just like those days when I'm "in the zone".....hot!

Creativity flows and ideas come at me too fast to put together! A great container begs for a certain look, or a stem of silks inspires a total design...

And those repetitive centerpieces? 15 or 20 of the same? I'm all over those - mass production can be a good challenge to see how fast and effecient you can be.

Spread out over two benches and line those containers up! Look at the clock and time youself...Two stems here, three stems there... wow! How quick can you be? Six minutes per design? 10 per hour? 12 per hour?? I love to challenge myself :headbang:

I am very glad to see that someone other than myself does this. All my life I ahve thought I was crazy, competing with myself...

I like to create big, so casket spray is one of my specialty, but I also like ot create wedding bouquets also.
Least..corsage and anything small because of my big hands.

Lori -
Glad to hear that - My co-workers groan or roll their eyes at me when I try to tell them mass production can be fun... LOL

I find that without competition in all aspects of life make for a very boring existance..I am by nature a very competative person...

My favorite to design is without a doubt - tropicals and exotics. Second favorite, Personalized Sympathy tributes. Third favorite - corsages.

least favorite - To quote Richard Milteer AIFD " The roundy, moundy, tussie mussie, lovable, huggable HUMP of flowers"

I like to design a cost of goods worksheet in Excel and the average is 20%, I just really get off on that.

For flowers, although I don't design so well anymore. I just love a design with white French Lilac, white fresia, white French tulips and Casablanca's some unusual greens.

I even think I would enjoy that for my casket spray, I may even consider contracting with my friend John Klingle AIFD to design it.
