It's kind of a toss up for me, but I like the low, massed, European contemporary vases and containers, I also like the large $200 "WOW" pieces with a contemporary flair. I also like the gardeny, wild looking styles that have a more European look. I once was in a high end hotel on Rodeo Drive that used a local florist and they do a piece that uses willow, myrtle, etc to make a large faux handle and then mass flowers in the base, I love that too. I'm more fond of doing bridal bouquets than I used to, so I guess I could add that to the list.

I may even consider contracting with my friend John Klingle AIFD to design it.
John's great! He's a South Florida treasure for sure (not just for being a good designer, but also because he's a really good guy and gives much of himself to better the industry.)

My favorite to design? Anything big, too. :)

And those repetitive centerpieces? 15 or 20 of the same? I'm all over those - mass production can be a good challenge to see how fast and effecient you can be.

Spread out over two benches and line those containers up! Look at the clock and time youself...Two stems here, three stems there... wow! How quick can you be? Six minutes per design? 10 per hour? 12 per hour?? I love to challenge myself :headbang:

I am very glad to see that someone other than myself does this. All my life I ahve thought I was crazy, competing with myself...
Hey - me too me too! Watching someone making centerpieces for a wedding one at a time drives me crazy. Some art can be produced assembly style. Still trying to teach that to some folks who like the singular approach.

Favorite thing to design - changes alllllll the time. I love to arrange simple dozen rose vases with fun greens & fillers. Or big church style arr's, for weddings or funeral.

Lately it's small vase arr's, with mostly stuff from outside with just a few flowers. Trying to use up our leftover annuals before frost is a challenge, so we're using what we can in arrangements. Purple sweet potato, green sweet potato, dark leaf NG impatiens, helichrysum - fun stuff. Really sparks your creativity when you're trying to be thrifty!

My favorite design to make is when the customer tells me that the flowers are for a man who is an ourdoorsman, so make something with that sort of theme. My favorite is to create a design which suggests a riverbank without the river or fishing poles, etc. Just the peaceful forest edge.

Least favorite? Cannot think of one. I have to be in the office so much of the day that when I get to design, it is a time of joy.

I like the sound of that Connie, have you got any photos to post of your forest edge designs?

oops I forgot to say what I liked to make up, sorry.

I'm happy to do any arrangement that makes the customer happy, with one exception - when they say "I just want a little bunch, you know like you get in the supermarket". grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr oh, that will be one carnation, one freesia one gerbera and a spray of mums then!

I can't think of one thing... here's a few:
When a customer brings in a wierd container "can you do flowers in this dog food bag?" YES I CAN

"can you whip something up special, I have 5 minutes?" YES I CAN

"You know I'm not sure what flowers I want for my wedding... my colors are x and y and I have $$$$. Can you just make something pretty?" YES I CAN

OH big funeral... we are almost out of flowers! The cooler is bare! Phone call from Mr. Moneybags... "Can you do a $$$ showy arrangement for me?" YES I CAN We get real creative when we are low on product, amazing what comes out and the customers love it.
