This seems to be the month for "Prayers for Mom."

My mother, Lynn, lifetime florist and owner of our shop, has been admitted into hospital with severe abdominal pain & various complications. After being bounced from one ER, redirected from another, and finally admitted they've put her through the usual battery of tests - blood, x-rays, CT Scan, etc. The best guess is some kind of intestinal blockage, but they can't be sure yet. And the can't operate until they know what they are looking for ...

The Doctor's have been great, very friendly and helped make her more comfortable. The Nurses are awesome (as 98.73% of all nurses are - what an under-rated job!); now we just need a diagnosis so they can proceed with the job of fixing the problem.

Please pray for wisdom & guidance for the doctors as they try to find the cause, and for quick healing for Mom as she recovers after the surgery (whenever it will be).

Thanks!!

Ryan

You are in our thoughts and prayers and we will pray for you and your family on the speedy and safe recovery of your Mom.

Is there a bouquet of flowers in her room?

My thoughts and prayers are with you, your mom and your family.

Sounds like she is getting great care with very good doctors and nurses. Hopefully, that helps ease the tension you and your family are experiencing.

Best Wishes
Joe

Your MOM is in GOOD HANDS....

Ryan....we of course do all we can to help, but ,YOU GOTTA BELIEVE, as we do that your and our prayers WILL INDEED guide Lynn safely through this bout of ill health.
We can also understand your concern a she gets bounced around our "medical system", and if it WEREN'T for the superb nurses/practitioners that we are blessed with, the "system" would likely collapse.
Lynn KNOWS that she'll get past this...continue to remind her that you NEED her ( and we do too!!)

Praying For You

Prayers for you from New Jersey...

Then your light shall break forth like the dawn,
and healing shall spring up quickly.

Thanks, everyone. It's an humbling feeling to know we've got instant prayer support from all corners of the continent :)

It seems we may have encountered part of the 1% of nurses that aren't so great as Liann, the nurse entrusted with the care of Mom seems somewhat clueless and unmotivated. Three requests for a blanket went unheeded, and Mom was left in the hallway after her CT scan for 2hrs waiting for a porter to take her back to her room. Liann also missed a non-functioning medical device that was supposed to ease Mom's nausea - apparently vomitting throughout the day didn't tip her off that the machine wasn't working. Thankfully, the evening crew was much better (thanks, Monika!).

We're still waiting for a doctor to give us the results of the CT scan from 9AM yesterday.

Oh, here's a quote from a neurosurgeon friend of mine:
"If I was in an accident, and put in an ambulance heading for Sunnybrook Hospital I'd claw my way out the back of the ambulance and crawl anywhere else." I was surprised to hear that, since Sunnybrook has a very good reputation as far as I know, but it seems they may be somewhat understaffed and overwhelmed.

For now ... we're still waiting for info from a doctor.

Ryan
