I would not do a wedding on Mother's Day weekend or Valentines.
It's not because of the profitability issue, it's because I'm afraid I might mess up. My feelings is that a woman's wedding day should be one of the most special days of her life. Everything has to be perfect. Especially, my part of it. On these busy days, I'm tired and pushed over the max. My potential for error is much higher. I'm in a hurry. I wouldn't want to comprise my product and/or make a mistake.
This is what I tell customers who want to book on these busy days.

Been there, done that..even my drivers can do roses and simple vase designs....

Pretty tough to do a wedding on a major holiday when you have 100-135 deliveries a day for the week of Mothers Day and your already working overtime...

We will book one wedding for Mother's Day.

When we were filling lots of wire ins we could never do this. Now that we don't fill for order gatherers, our holidays are sane (and profitable.)

Also, we don't do much prom work, given our location, so that figures in.

We ALWAYS have a wedding on mothersday.I am not wire service(yeah) and it makes for a sane holiday. I would rather do one $3,000 wedding on mothers day week end than 200 wire in orders.I make wonderful profit on weddings.we are not a big shop but do over 100 weddings a year. And we have never had a problem getting everything done in a timely manner. I am so proud of my staff because they really kick butt when we get slammed.

We, iI guess, are the exception to all your rules.
We do do weddings on Mother's Day weekend, as well as Valentines' Day weekend.
Look at your calendar, folks....If Valentines day is on Sat/sunday, your Buyers will be sending most orders to the OFFICE/WORKplace on Friday! You can do a wedding on Val Day (Saturday).

Mother's Day - yes, we have done as many as 5 on this weekend, as well as our regular MD orders, and 2 proms. We buy smart, and work smart!! for example -- designs for bouquets are kept simple (handtieds, all 1 kind of flower, etc; bows are made way ahead, bouquet holders are prepped ahead, etc.) We get done everything we can ahead, just like we prep for holidays! The challenge is always in labeling & making sure that flowers for a wedding/prom/etc don't mistakenly get used or sold for a regular order.

Think out of the box. You cannot control when your customer decides to plan a certain specla event. YOu can only react to it, and make it profitable for your shop!

Queen, I am so sorry that you had difficulty finding someone to help you. Hopefully, it will work out.

Regards,
Cheryl
