Have a bride who wants these ostrich feather centerpieces lit up in pink. She brings me this picture. I do the research and find that they light up with the small floralytes. The picture she brings shows a bright somewhat even glow. When I use the lights they show up like stripes and I can't get them that bright. I am frustrated with this one. Any help would be appreciated. She wants the even glow and my budget is already spent on these. And by the way, she wants them flat on top (I disagree but it is her wedding).

The ones in the first pic don't look even to me. If you see in the middle of the vase it looks duller than the top and bottom of the vase.

To me too, they are top and bottom lights if you really look closer. Just try suspending one from the top and drop one in the bottom and see what happens. Good luck... let us know:hammer:

also I wanted to add...I htink it's just more noticeable because of the pink light where as the white light it's not.

Try using the gel beads, It will work like fiber optics....I believe the first ones are done this way....and do a top and bottom light...

You mean a vase filler, Lori? Will that help the glow?

Yeah, I would try the real snow stuff, the gell actually works like fiber optics and helps the light even out by bending it in many different directions. because of the beads the light travels farther thus making a more even glow...with just water you have one beam of light traveling straight ahead...with the beads you have one beam of light hitting a sphere and breaking off into different directions, then hitting more spheres and breaking off and hitting more....and so on...

I got it at my wholesaler but this is the website...it can be made to look like snow with less water it gets very sparkly or slush more water looks like a slushy drink especially if you add food color...

Hey did you also try getting the led bottom lights and putting pink water in the vases....this may work too and be cheaper in the long run, the led bottom lights would then be a rental that you would get back...They only come in the white so you would have to make the inside pink in order to get that pink color..

I tried the vase illuminators with pink water but the lights were not bright enough even though they were advertised as "super bright" led vase illuminators. I like the snow idea. I will give that a whirl.

I wish I had one of those light things hanging around I would do one up and send you a pic...

I was going to suggest the gel too. We did a large vase for our wedding show and the marble size did not glow evenly, so I would try the smaller smushed type too. I think you can get it in pink, I know you can get the marble size that way.

I did see a centerpiece done with the gel and lights on TV once and it did glow solidly.

Good luck!

One benefit to using gel instead of water is that you can stratgically layer the lights throughout the vase. With water you have to just have one in the bottom and one at the top. With the gel, it is kind of like making lasagna in a vase! See this link on my website for my "FloraLyte Lasagna Recipe" :) Ok, its not really called that. But that is what it reminds me of.

It is hard to not get striping though... even with the gel. We sell the gel filler, if you are looking for it. The "marbles" are technically called Crystal Accents Water Holding Deco Beads and the "smushy" are called Crystal Accents Water Holding Gel Crystals. The Crystals are better for use in eiffels. Here is our gallery of pictures of the crystals with the floralytes...

Remember that with the light bases, there are three different types. They all say "Super Bright" led lights. However, what you need to look at is the QUANTITY of lights per base. There is a 4" with 9 lights, an 8" with 13 lights, then an 8" with 31 lights. We just decided to start carrying these (got them photographed and priced less than 8 hours ago!) But we chose to only carry the 8" 31 light ones because it seems that those "in the know" feel they are much superior. So when looking at light bases, be sure you are comparing apples and apples... an 8" with 31 lights will give off considerably more light than a 4" with 9 lights. However, my humble opinion, is that the 8" ones are kind of big for use with an eiffel, unless it is 24" or larger. But that is PURELY opinion. I am sure many people would say I don't know what I am talking about.

Also, with eiffels, there are clear glass, then painted white glass, then frosted glass. You might have a frosted glass. But if the picture was originally with the painted white glass instead of the frosted, you have a whole another animal.

Oh, and then there is the whole issue of monitor differences, and what cameras do to things. Who knows what the original design truly looked like! You might be doing everything right, it might just be technology messing with everything!

you're welcome!
Details on the glow sticks please....for some reason I can't see where you published the info on that. Would love to know what you are doing with the glow sticks.

You can buy the glow sticks on website www.happyglow.com in various lengths and they last about 8 hours. Drop them end to end in an eiffel tower vase and they glow. I found one problem is that it has to be very dim in the room to see the glow. After all of this stress, my bride has decided to go with the white color rather than the pink! Oh well, now I have the answers for next time. :)
