They just don't stop, today I got an order for a total of $30.01
For something I am NOT coded for. And my minimum is $45.00

What's with the .01 ?????
Really ???!!

Couldn't reject it quick enough. They never cease to amaze me.
TF set this system up and they abuse it constantly.

It was probably some OG trying to funnel an order through TF.

BTW has anyone seen the 1-800 commercial for the $39.99 CP
with roses, lillies, candles etc. "We'll upgrade to this for free" .
(do you think they have enough silver balls in there!! Ha)

I feel your pain.

Yesterday I sent out 7 price change request. Most to tf hq and a couple to 1800 (who sends them through the dove).

Most of the TF HQ orders were the web designs. I HATE the web designs. I have come to realize that the prices for these are just about as bad as 1800s prices.

As far as 1800s centerpiece of choice this year, I have the small priced out at $79 and the large priced out at $105 before delivery. This is using THEIR recipe and MY prices. And I am not in a high priced area.

That will be an FTD order I suspect... their days of drop shipping are coming to an end for this holiday...then the really silly orders will start to flow...

I don't get that 800 3 candle cp either.
Actually, I was going to start a post how on earth are you guys doing it for the price they give you?? Who are filling these orders? The advertising for the free upgrades is all over the radio.
I'd like to hear from one of the advocates of the ws to step up to plate and tell us how they can do this one and make a profit???? Or remotely break even?
I can't find 12 tapers for less than 50 cents. Nothing that doesn't look like crap. And, it takes at least 15 -20 min to make a nice greened cp. And, I'm pretty fast. I sell my two candles long and low cp with lillies and roses and balls for $74.99. Maybe 800 is selling pregreened cp with candles. At the price they are advertising the finished product, they should be free to the filling shops.
How on earth can anyone do it for 71% of $39.99 delivered??????

My prediction - there will be more flower shops out of business next month. It just kills me that my potential customers have media proof that I am expensive - twice as much as what they see on the internet.
Plus, 800 is going to bat to prove my prediction that they are totally destroying the floral gift giving business - by promising much more than can be delivered and pissing off the consumer permamently.

Looks like they do believe in Santa Claus

They must believe in Santa Claus and they think it is you. They have a race to the bottom mentality that is not good for anyone.

800 is paying florists the regular price for the upgrade and absorbing the amount given to the customer as a cost of keeping the customer loyal to them rather than seeking out a local florist. Smart on their part...

Whether you can fill it at their amounts or not is a whole other story for another day..

Seems like a hostile takeover of the floral industry......

I SAW THEIR SITE AND ITS ALL DROP @@@@...THOSE *&%$# (Expletive Deleted)
SO WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN......THEY GONNA BOMBARD US LIKE USUAL MONDAY NIGHT????:soapbox:

The .01 is what gets them the rebate...it doesn't get paid for orders $30. or less!!!!!:hammer:
We reject those...they will not listen to reason about real costs!!!
Neither does the general public...
We frequently get calls: "My old florist XYZ used to do that arrangement for $25.00, but they're not in business anymore. Why do you want $60.00 for that arrangement?"
That's when I tell them that doing that arrangement for $25.00 is WHY the other guy is no longer in business!!!
They still don't get it....

I got 6 phone calls today for the same "do not report" HQ order. Here's the kicker. I'm the only florist who delivers to the area and I told them that I could deliver a similar arrangement but it would not have the codified "peace" candle sleeve. I won't buy their products because I'm cancelled in 2 weeks.
I know they'll call again tomorrow and through the 23rd and beg me to take it when I am completely out of product. No, They'll get FTD to drop-ship it.
Buckle your safety belts boyz; it's gonna be a bumpy ride.

I take exception to your foul language (no matter how you spell it, the meaning is there) and, your post is only half correct.

If you bother to look, right there on the ftd.com homepage, there is a section of "Florist Delivered" pieces. Then a row of the drop ship stuff.

FTD is discounting the C3 I heard at some point, and subsidizing the florist for the difference. Guilty they are for doing the same as TEL and 800.

No matter who you fill for, the game is the same.

On a related post, I just don't understand WHY anyone would fill that 800 C-piece. You are losing big time. Just run the numbers. Did the 800 game, and won.

Gee...what will the poor order gatherers tell their customer if they can't get anyone to fill these orders? And if the are forced to drop ship? Seems to me like there will be a lot of really angry customers for them and or frozen flowers. That could be a positive thing for the "real" florists. Maybe the public will start to wise up!...or maybe not...I always say "ya can't fix stupid:)"

I figure there is at least 8 white roses in that arrangement. Probably 8 red carns, four stems of mini red carns and the equivalent of one stem of asiatic lilies. plus a bunch of other stuff.

Nope. I would not do it for 63pct of $30 OR 63 pct of $39.99.

No this is a prime arrangement that you forward to your competitor.

if your "competitor" does this, for that price, you'll NOT have to worry much longer..they won't be "competing" any more....

yup!!!! However that presumes your competitor is still in the WS game.

joe

Joe brings up a great point here. You SHOULD be aware of your competitor. You should be aware of their design styles and skill levels. You should know enough about your competitor to be able to set yourself apart from them.

I routinely shop, call, visit, my competing shops, or even pay a friend to order for me just so I CAN stay on top of what my competitor is sending out their shops. By doing this, I was able to attend a funeral of a friend recently and was able to identify which shop made which design.

Joe say that presumes your competitor is still in the WS game......You should know if they are or not.

Hmm... yup, I have no one left to forward to now, the only other FTD florist in town's phone has been disconnected as of Dec 1st.

Funny my FTD rep, who was just in Wednesday, for the SECOND time this week did not mention it. Since I have not seen very many dot.coN orders this season, I'm wondering who's filling them...must be someone from out of town. I sent my rep an email last night about this, no reply yet...

Looks like Midland will become an FTD free zone as of Monday at 6am...I think my Mercury is gonna crash...you all can of course call, the Con won't take the time...

Wow. How many FTD shops were there 5 years ago? Are those shops still in business and using another WS or are they out of business entirely?

FTR, it was the repeated receipt via Dove of those $30 TF HQ orders over Mother's Day that were our 'last straw'.

Anybody up for placing test orders for the 1-800 $39.95 CP and then photographing them? PM me.

And hopefully, you will post the pics here! I would love to see what really comes!

We got a call from a customer asking us to price out an arrangement they saw on ftd.com
4 white lilies
6 red roses
holiday greens in a footed vase.

I said $75 (off the top of my head) and he told me I was crazy...it was something like $29.99 on the website. I think he may have exagerated the price a little, but I told him that it was no doubt a drop ship product and the vase would have to be a mai-tai glass rather than a vase. Happy designing dude!!!!!
