Ok, yesterday got a call, "I would like to order a funeral spray, I want white gladiolas, red roses, red carnations and monte casino, and if you dont use the flowers I want, dont think I wont come up to your shop and tear you a new Ahole...."

I didnt take the order, and it wasnt a joke, a real funeral, a real person, and a real shame....

I cease to be amazed at what people say...

YOu just don't say that to folks here in Texas... That is not rude.. that cause for an A kickin'! Glad you didn't do the order!

Well

For once in my life, I had a comeback...

" I am so sorry for your loss, and I am sure that you are going thru a lot of anger and grieving, and there is no need to come to my store, what you just said really offended me and you need to find another florist.

And I hung up. Now, can anyone guess what I really wanted to say????

Sorry for your rude customer!

last year we had a Italian Mafioso type man place a very large funeral order. He had lost his baby boy. Made threatening remarks as this when placing his order. When the pieces were delivered he was not happy with one of them, called screaming, hung up on the girl and showed in the store 10 minutes later. Walked into the backroom and through cash on the work bench and told my husband to pick it up and fix it (make it bigger, fuller) and then said if you don't the police will find you floating in Onondaga Lake. He turned and left.
My husband redid his piece.
Every once in awhile an ugly wreath or a bag of dog food shows up at our home door with a note... Love, Vinny
Of course that is just a relatives humor.

I would have nominated this for the thread of the week if I could have.

That was a great way to handle this person.

I've been of the mind set as of late "do what ever they ask for"
However-
I'm not so sure I would have handled such an insult and flat out threat with such amazing poise and grace. Ya did good Jean!

Some customers are getting meaner with their comments.

Jean, you handled it perfectly.

Joan, I'd have been tempted to report that guy to the police....but then, your customer might have been the real sender of the wreaths and dog food.

What's causing this kind of anger? Fear and frustration because of the economy?

There is truly a lack in courtesy and politeness going around everywhere. I understand being upset and grief stricken but no need to be a horses @$$.

Well Get This

Here is what I recieved in the mail today...

Dear Owner of The Bloom Closet,
I called you a few weeks ago about flowers for a funeral and I was exceptionally rude and coarse toward you for no reason except my grief. I just wanted to send you a note and apologize for my behavior, you could have been much ruder to me that day, (and trust me, many people were) I am not signing this note because I have been in your store and I would be ashamed if you knew it was me acting so terribly, but please accept my apology.
A Customer that feels very ashamed...

Let me pick myself up off the floor!!!!!!!!!!

WOW - I have to say.. It took a lot for that customer to write you that note.. even if they did not sign it.

Glad you were not ugly to them that day they were rude to you.. made them stop and thing about their actions..

Joan - That guy sounds scary!

Nice to know that people do realize that they can change things for the better once they realize what they have done...if they realize it...

That was really nice of them to do...I am sure it made you feel better.

Well that was truly a lovely note. It is testiment to the fact that we all have @@@@ty days sometimes and sometimes our logic does not take over and we can just be a bit crappy. If we are all christian then it is nice just to realise that we are not perfect.

Well done that man/woman :)

Congratulations to her for recognising and taking ownership of her behaviour. It's not important to have a signature. It's important that you have the note.

Congratulations to you for showing restraint when it was required.

Isn't it interesting how we are all capable of doing things incredibly mean "and" incredibly humble. Wow to you for showing us all how to stand up for yourself and showing us how to being amazingly caring to one who is so unreasonable......Thankyou...............G
