This is exactly what I was thinking. Your kindness really meant a lot to her... probably much more than your beautiful flowers could have.

I wonder what ever happened to businesses being able to "offer" our services and having customers grateful for all the hoops we jump thru to make them happy. Now it seems that consumers think they can TELL a business WHAT we will do for them, for WHAT PRICE, and WHEN...duh.. do they think custom flowers just arrive from out of thin air, with tons of employees just waiting for the chance to serve them?? Geez.. I think florists are expected to go so far out of our way to please someone for a $29.99 order!!!!!!! delivered by ten am...and don't call first, etc.... My shop gives excellent service with a skeleton crew for orders as small as $15 up to whatever they wanna pay.. but.. I will not take abuse. some people just wanna verbally beat someone else up.. I hung up after ten minutes of abuse yesterday...ugh!!!!!!!!! I was much too kind..lol... I think you did better than I would have.. quick response!!!!!!

Jean, congratulations, you really keep your,"KEWL"!! During busy, stressful times and a customer comes off being nasty, it would be very difficult not to tie into them with you fist down thier throat, after that have a double boubon and joint(if available)!! WAY to GO!!

I found this really rude...

This customer (used to live here but moved about 50 minutes away) called for a 50th wedding anniversary arrangement. Wants it delivered in Grand Rapids MN on Saturday 26th.
I called the shop there and asked if they were going to be open - just in case - of course they're not.
Called customer back and left message regarding no shop open on Saturday. Didn't hear from her so called her back today. Her first words were "guess they don't need any business huh!" to which I informed her that a great many florists will be closed for the weekend for various reasons including wholesalers not being open or available for supplies through the weekend. Explained that I will be closed until Monday due to that reason and enjoying the Christmas weekend with my family. Her next statement "well, what are my choices? Will they deliver Sunday or how about Friday?" I almost dropped the phone...
no, they will not be delivering on Christmas Day... Your choice is to have it delivered either Wednesday or Thursday or wait until Monday. Her answer "well, I guess you better send it for Thursday then" and then she hung up.
The worst part about this whole conversation/order is she was my freshman year English Literature teacher, none of her 3 children live here or where she lives now as a matter of fact. I always thought her to be heartless, now I know she still is!!

This is kind of funny and a little creepy:
To preface the story I will tell you that my dad is a police officer and owns the store, too.

So this guy comes in today that I recognize. He walks all over town and he lives in this known drug hovel that is close by. Totally disgusting.

He comes in and says "Is Mr. Goldsmith here?"
I said "No, he's not"
"How old is he?"
"Umm, I'm sorry, I don't give out personal information"

"Okay, f *** you then." (Customers are every where in the store. All are gaping with their mouths open)
I (somehow calmly)say "I'd like you to leave right now please"
He says "Yeah, you'd better like me to leave right now"

Then he threatened my dad and left the store.

I don't know where these people come from.....crazy.
