To tell you a little bit about myself, I am a new store owner, but have only been in the floral business for less than two years. Initially, I took a part-time position at the local florist and worked for a woman who was incredibly generous with her knowledge. I loved working with the flowers so much and knew almost immediately that this would be the business for me. I learned as much as I could and then searched for a place for sale for my own. Shortly after my search, I found another local florist for sale. This could not have come at a better time in my life as I have two children in college and just one left in high school. I was at a point in my life where I needed to "get a life" and to boot, my husband's job had been eliminated due to computers so he too needed to find something new for employment. So, here we are, starting a new business. Like the commercial says, "50 is the new 40".... just a new exciting adventure. I am thrilled to own this business, yet I know I need to find out and ask the advice of other experienced florists and persons within this business. I have a few personal contacts within the industry, but they are not always available. This forum would be an excellent source and I think I could take great advantage of it.
