Scrumpy is a 13 year old Sun Conure. Known for being extremely noisy, he's usually not - unless, there's a problem. For the past month or so, we've notice him getting more and more fidgety during the day. After cleaning up Christmas, Stacey found a poor dead mouse at the bottom of a tall glass hurricane, waaaaaay at the back of the shelves. So we figured it was either the mouse being dead, or just having another live animal around that made him so grumpy.

Last night after closing, I was here doing paperwork and heard him repeatedly climbing to the bottom of his cage & charging. Now, he has a toy cow that he loves to toss around, like it's his mortal enemy. So I thought that was what he was playing with. After about 30 minutes, I decided to lift his cover and check on him, because it's not like him to be so occupied with this thing for so long (short attention span, like a 2 year old). Well, he had cornered this little field mouse, under the grate in his cage, and was chasing it round in circles!

While we were "rescuing" the intruder, from our attack bird, we could hear another mouse munching on food that they had stolen from his cage. Set up a humane trap and we'll release him later. Hubby took the first terrified fella out last night.

Yes, I had a Russian Blue named Duchess who was as sharp as a tack. One day while I was studying for University exams, Duchess was bugging me so I picked her up and tossed her into the hallway and firmly closed the door. Five minutes later, she was bugging me again. She was a tiny little thing, about eight pounds all told, and the door was still firmly closed. I tossed her back into the hallway and sure enough, five minutes later, she was back. I asked my parents if they'd let her in the room and they answered no so how was she getting into the room?

I tossed her out into the hallway but instead of returning to my studies, I sat on my bed and waited. She didn't disappoint. After a few minutes I heard the sound of metal clothes hangers moving and then saw the cat jump to the ground and over to me where I got a moment of kitty love. It turns out that the cat knew that while the ceilings were finished in the rooms, they weren't in the closets. My parents closet and my closet were back to back and the cat apparently climbed up into my parents closet, over the wall between the joyces (sp?) and down into my closet. She did a number of 'holy @()$' things but that one stands out.

I had a cat that played fetch and could turn on light switches.....

I have another cat who is a Jedi Master...we are not too sure how he does things so we have to assume that the force is strong in him...

Another bird lover here. My African Grey Parrot says 'poop!' before she does it. I taught her this trick so I can catch it.

So does it say poop all day long....Birds are very very messy...Neat trick though...Too bad you couldn't teach it to fly over the toilet and make a deposit while saying poop..now that is a trick..

My cat plays catch too - she's a little OCD with the glittery pom poms from the craft aisle. I think we have 200 or so, under the couch. When we pick up the couch to retrieve them, she's busy for hours! If we take the time to toss one for her, she'll pick it up and bring it back to us; if we're busy, she'll carry it to the corner, and bat it around all by herself.

Funny! My gray is a feather picker, but she loves to make the beep beep of the trucks backing up. I try not to take it personally when she beep beeps at me!

We have critters in the greenhouses at night, but my humane trap is called the ratmaster 2000. Load it up with peanut butter and stand back.

;)
Boo - sssssss. Can't bring myself to kill anything anymore - too soft in my old age I guess. I used to love to fish - can't even bait a hook, or cook live crabs, let alone kill a mouse/rat.

I also have a cat that plays fetch, particularly loves to do it with soda bottle caps. She also sits on command like a dog. Oh, and she loves to ride.

:GP Me too Tracy... me too. I'm perfectly fine with that aspect of me. So are the critters I encounter. ;)

My cats were too well fed to catch the odd mouse who would find it's way into my home. I would catch it and take it outside... it would return. I finally took it to the fields behind the highschool... he, or she didn't find their way back again.

I have great fun with our male tabby cat. Our house is such that you can run in a circle through the living room, then the kitchen, around to the entryway and back into the living room. He and I will stalk each other around the corners. If he sees me, I'll run the other way and hide. He'll anticipate that I'm changing direction each time and run to a hiding place near where I'll be looking for him. We take turns jumping out and scaring each other. It's hilarious.

My cat that had to be put down 2 years ago, used to get violent about peeking. We used to peek around corners purposely to piss him off. He would charge right at you running up the woodwork to get at you. It was the most hilarious thing...

Hey speaking of crazy cats...Have any of you cat owners tried to feed your cats green or black olives??? All of mine do this funny little dance with them and roll all over them. It is a hoot to see, they come running from all angles when the smell them..

I also run as soon as I smell black olives .... mmmmm, yum.
My Siamese cats used to do thatwith Mint Tea Bags, or anything mint for that matter - like catnnip I suppose. They also loved corn and cantaloupe.

Toilet training for a bird... never thought of that. Actually a friend of mine is trying to teach his dog to sit on a toilet bowl and flush it afterward. Funny guy.
Scrumpy used to do his morning doo over the toilet - held him on my finger and he'd just squat & go. Now that he's at the shop instead of home, we've gotten out of the habit.

My precious Ragdoll cat, Atasha Catriona, is a jewelry thief! She spends her time climbing on my bureau, snatching the jewels and hiding them! I'll be sitting on the couch, and Tasha will come parading down the stairs with her latest jewelry heist dangling from her teeth. Her favorite jewels are crystal or diamond bracelets and necklaces.

I have a large crystal bowl on a table with floating candles which Tasha likes to drink from. She lifts the candles out with her teeth and proceeds to lie down while drinking the water from the crystal bowl! She almost never drinks from her own water bowl! Cats are sooooo cool!

My Tasha prefers any type of hard candy that rolls or moves easily. She loves to "stalk" jelly beans and skittles! As a special treat we give her a little dollop of whipped cream a few nights a week! She flips out when she hears me spraying the Reddi-Whip into her bowl! Don't tell me cats aren't smart-when I ask if her is she wants a special treat...she knows the whipped cream is coming out of the refrigerator!

5 Dogs, 3 cats, 3 birds, 27 fish, and an assortment of area specific varmints and I can't compete with these stories.
Wait,..............how about Long Island's famous corn eating dog ?
In the newspapers and on T.V. twice.
Does that work ?

My hubby is convinced that Smuckers, his little mutt, understands every word that Hubby says. Smuckers has Hubby well trained also.
