Anyone use snap on wristlets from Oasis?
I was loving them for prom and used many. I would hot glue the backings...bow,
leaves , feathers etc. then would cold glue the flowers & fillers. All was well,
until a prom mom came in after picking up her son's corsage just two hours before.
It completely detached from the snap on wristlet.
Did the hot glue melt the plastic gaurd on the snap on wristlet?
Did it separate after being in the cooler?
How do you attach the corsage?

My guess is it separated in the cooler. You should be using oasis floral glue for fresh flowers NOT hot glue.:)

The only hot glue I trust is the Oasis hot glue. Some of the others do come off when going from cold to hot and hot to cold. The glue that is used in glue gun is the worst for this to happen.

Another thing that might happen is that there could be a thin coat of oil on the wristlet (maybe from human hands).

Don't be afraid to use plenty of glue.

I used oasis hot glue pillows from a glue pan.

I only use cold adhesive. Exclusively for all corsage work.
Never hot or pan glue.

We'll see tomorrow if any problems.
None so far.

The shop did about 180 corages and 150 bouts for this weekend.
With myself and another designer.
Plus, an insane admins day.

I am soooo pooped!!!!!

I love it when the kids come in late, in formal attire.
When I see how well my corsages coordinate with their outfits, makes it all worth while......

cute dress!

What's up with the white tuxes? They were all the rage here too..reminds me of Saturday night fever.

We use Oasis Floral Adhesive for every part of gluing corsages. When using the snap-on wristlets, we tie the ribbon to the plastic part just as described by Carrieann.

I don't use snap ons, but I do the same thing Carrieann does. That way you ensure it doesn't come off. I also use the hot glue pillows for the glue pan for the greens and ribbon. Only cold glue for the flowers.

Gorgeous corsage Cherrie - ....... and what a cute guy to boot.

I don't think the surface area on the plastic is too small.

I use Oasis adhensive to first place four never wilt leaves on the plastic.
Then I glue on the bow and greens and make the corsage around it.

I take the wires off the the back of the never wilt leaves, because one year, a long time ago, after a couple of days in the cooler, the wires came off.

No problems that I know of so far. I used a lot of the snap bracelets.

Sometimes wires do come off the leaves after being in the cooler for a while. Something, I do is to save leaves from silk arrangements (the ones that will hold up in the cooler and with water) and use them as the background of the wristlet. It saves a few pennies on each leaf and they would probably be thrown away anyway. You can get some really interesting color and texture added to the design this way.

Also, I do use Oasis hot melt sometimes to glue the background, but, use the cold Oasis glue to glue in the fresh flowers.

So, apparently, this was the only one that had an issue...(so far)
No other complaints and only compliments.
Maybe girly was over excited with the "snap on" feature
and was snappy happy.....

But, I think the attaching with a ribbon is a the way to go!

i am using the snap bracelets this year.

I make my bow and tie it to the base using another small piece of the same ribbon. The base has a hole on each side of it, just slip the ribbon in and tie tight. I only glue onto the ribbon not the base.

Hope this helped.

that's the big secret........only glue to a ribbon base....
With the lady fair wristlets we made an armiture of covered wire and used the prongs to secure this and then a ribbon bow, etc etc......the bases can be made way ahead of time....i love the fitz bracelets but have a small problem with the small discs......i can never keep the corsage from flopping around after construction.....works fine with gardenias and a single blown rose....we use spray roses and dendros mostly.
