Yep, we had a 5.4 shaker just before noon. The epicenter was just north of Anaheim in the hills of Diamond Bar/Chino Hills/Yorba Linda.

A few items flew off shelves here but there's no structural damage.

The initial quake felt like a sharp jolt followed by rolling (which seemed to go on for quite a while). Thankfully aftershocks are mild, so far.

It's been a long time since a quake of this size happened in the LA area.

The news is talking about the excitement of it all, but people and buildings seem OK. :)

Yeah it rocked and rolled me here in San Diego!! My friend felt it first in Santee which is abou 20 minutes east of me....we were on the phone. She thought it was the construction trucks...then I felt it and said NOPE THAT was an earthquake!! We laughed it off!! glad everyone is ok!

Thank goodness you are all fine and the buildings are all standing. I thought of you today when I heard the news. Thanks so much for letting us know your status.

It was really rocking for a while. Lost a few vases flying off the shelves--nothing too bad. Almost lost my secret bottle of tequila but it survived the fall.

Were you chanting Tumba Ferraro over and over?

Glad no real damage. I sure don't miss those (I spent 48 years of my life in Cali)!

it just made our british breakfast news this morning - just shows how good flower chat is - who needs gmtv!! Hope there was not too much damage and that everyone is ok!

I am coming to California on Saturday on holiday so I wrote a letter to Arnold asking him to put out the fires and steady the earth!
Glad everyone is OK.

Glad everyone is A OK!

California You Rock! Literaly!!!

Saw on TV this morning that the quake interupted the taping of Judge Judy! Most ran except for the plaintiff and defendant. They stood there and looked around. Boy she sure has them trained well!

Cathy, Eric and everyone in that area, glad everyone was OK. I used to enjoy earthquakes until we had the big one in '89. Since then I'm probably the first one under the desk :boggles:

Sharon -

Phil had a classroom full of students yesterday, including some out-of-staters like Tina Stoecker's daughter from Florida. I asked her if she preferred earthquakes or hurricanes. ;)

There's an interesting article from the OC Register about folks caught in the quake while in the middle of their jobs (surgeon in the operating room, construction worker on a 10-foot ladder).

IMO the worst place to be when an earthquake hits is in the shower with your hair all soaped up. Talk about feeling vulnerable.....

Glad you all are ok and no harm done......Now, go and have a drink.
