This year when I have my staff party, I will give them each a different letter for them to gain points toward prizes at the end of the evening.

I will be offering points also on games we play....Like 1st place 25, 2nd 15 3rd 10 points.

I think this way every one has a chance on winning a prize that just having a draw.

On that sheet of paper I will have bonus questions and questions that will able you to steal some point for other oponents or loose points if they say something they should not say like a swear word.

Here is a sample of some questions. It will cary from different staff and what level of comfort you have with them.

1. If you are wearing something red or green you get 5 points for each color

2. During the evening if you Kiss another male in the room you get 10 points

3. If you get a second helping of vegetables after the first serving you get 15 bonus points

4. If you swear you loose 10 points, but if you can get someone else to swear you get 20 points

5. If you can get 1 person to divuldge the age they had their first sexual intercourse (loss of virginity) you get that in bonus points....example age 17 get 17 bonus points Must be a direct question you ask a person. Pick the one you think will give you the highest bonus points.

6. Ask just one person if they had taken illegal drugs. If they did you get 20 bonus points. if they did not take any drugs you loose 20 points.

Just keep making differents questions for different staff to make them socialize with other. THey have to be honest on keeping their score.

If could be silly things like their first kiss...or their first date.... etc

You can arrange games like charades...Split them up in two teams. You pre select phrases, or movies etc to do with the holidays and the team that has most points at the end of 5 rounds, all those team players get bonus points.

Each Bonus point sheet shold be different for each staff so no one can predict what will happen during the night.
Vary to point system to be as low as 5 and as high as 25. Use different numbers so the chance the total wont be the same for a tie.

Offer three prizes to the 3 highest winners. Check you local beauty salon, store you deal with and deal with you and see if they are willing to swap certificates for prizes.

Also instead of a GIFT EXCHANGE...ASk them to put money into an enveloppe and at the end of the evening collect the money and give it to the food bank or salvation army, or someone you know that really would need it. Make sure it is the same enveloppe for all and give it to them before hand so they can prepare it before coming to the evening. We do not want anyone to feel bad on how much they can really afford to give instead of being force to buy a gift that we are already so blessed to have.

This year I am cooking a meal and having them all to come instead of having a restaurant to go to.

Have a fun festive holiday!

Great Ideas Luc. You took some time coming up with these!

If Elliot Lake wasn't so dam n far away, I'd be at the party. I sounds like FUN!!! :)

I think there would be more people making points out of me with this system lol

Gawd, I'll prob get a red dot for this and I'm sure I'll get called a buzz kill, but I just want to point out some people are sensitive about kissing other boys other than thier hubbys, and I think if I saw some girl kissing my hubby, innocent or not, it'd piss me off. Yeah I'm jealous.. So is Hubby.

Um, man I really REALLY don't want to sound like a buzz kill, so I asked a female employee here what she thought of these questions.. When I got to "When did you loose your virginity" she grimaced said "uh no no no no no" and waved her hands as if to say "no more"

Just be very careful. I know here in the States some people would even hollar sexual harassment.

It does Totally sound like fun if it were just your close personal friends, and even more fun if it were just girls hanging out. May be a little racy for a staff flower shop Christmas party.

I'm so not a prude, just trying to look out.

Shannon, that is too funny! I know you are serious, so I am not laughing at you just at the whole picture! I'm getting all kinds of visuals from both post! I won't elaborate...

Us French kiss everyone, even here in the U.S., and on both cheeks, twice always! I never been to an Italian gathering that I wasn't kissed all day by all kinds of people I never met, and they like to kiss on the lips! I think it really does depend on nationality and demographics.

The virginity thing would not be a problem here as that topic seems to come up every few years, and the drug use question also.

Have a wonderful Party Luc sounds like fun! I would offer to do some great cooking for ya but I'll probably be working!

The party sounds like great fun, Luc! I'm very shy at such events, but it would be easy, it seems, to be part of this fun.

In this area of the world, we seem to do a lot of hugging among friends, with some kissing on the cheek. Maybe it's a regional thing.
Goodness, I do believe that I hugged a vendor today because he came out of his way to bring something that I needed for later in the week.

1. If you are wearing something red or green you get 5 points for each color
Do I have to show you everything I am wearing that is red & green...or are you gonna take my word for it, Luc?

2. During the evening if you Kiss another male in the room you get 10 points
I'd get a sh*tload of points for this little number, Luc! Do I get bonus points for french kissing?

3. If you get a second helping of vegetables after the first serving get 15 bonus points
Vegetarians have it made at this party!

4. If you swear you loose 10 points, but if you can get someone else to swear you get 20 points
Uh oh! There go my points! Ho, ho, ho...I can get others to swear just by kissing them!

5. If you can get 1 person to divuldge the age they had their first sexual intercourse (loss of virginity) you get that in bonus points....example age 17 get 17 bonus points Must be a direct question you ask a person. Pick the one you think will give you the highest bonus points.
That's funny, Luc! OK...do you think you would score high points by asking me?

6. Ask just one person if they had taken illegal drugs. If they did you get 20 bonus points. if they did not take any drugs you loose 20 points. Just ask anyone who looks like they're a baby boomer...you're sure to score 20 points!

Luc,
Sounds like fun! I like the idea of giving money you collected to a charitable cause. I have asked my relatives to donate to the charity of my choice for years. Having the party at your home is cool and oh so homey!

Shannon, I thought exactly the same things. I would be uncomfortable with some of that, and not sure it's very professional. Guess it depends on the group, and how close they are. ????

Yep, that was all I was trying to say. I'm glad you understood, Beth, that it wasn't meant to be party pooping. I just try to consider all peoples feelings, not just my own.

What I think is fun and appropriate is not always what is.

It's good to bounce ideas like this off of other people, just to get different perspectives.

It very much depends on the group in attendance. But one uncomfortable person is one too many. Bored is fine. You can't get sued for being bored.

There's been many a law suit against many an employer for much less.

Like I said, I'm just looking out.

It's a regional thing. And it's all in fun, and it's for charity. I'm more like Dianne. ;)

the fact that Luc is having a party at all, should trigger some relaxed "atmosphere", at his home.
When there's LOTS of people at his home, it's "almost" like a Roman orgy, SO, unlike SOME parts of the world, where SOME people's "feelings" might be intimidated, I'm sure the cops will just likely shut off BOTH ends of his street, to avoid the politically correct onlookers.
They DO this for local mayors you know!!

Holy S*Hit Shannon and Beth!
Relax a bit, you girls take things too much at heart.
I will bet that everyone in here have talked about their first kiss or sex or anything like that with friends, girl friends, co-workers at one time or another.
It all depends how comfortable you are with the subject. It is not a work related, it is to relax, put our feet up and have fun. I bet you there is more of this happens at a bachelorette party that you would admit to.
AND IT IS JUST SUGGESTIONS, IDEAS, YOU PICK THE ONE YOU WANT TO USE!, That if you want to have fun!!!!!!!!!!!
Who said that their spouse or BF are not welcome. Why can't they kiss them??????

I swear some people on this board take things toooooooo personally sometimes with out thinking first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is a game....they do not have to do it neither to win prizes....

Really Luc, I didn't take it personally at all, and Like V said it must be a regional thing.

There's no doubt that you will have a great party and it will turn out just the way you envisioned it.

Gee, we must have a very close staff, we already know all those things about one another!!!

We do not even have our party planned yet, been to busy!!!

ha missy i thought that myself, we would have go much worse lol These are our everyday topics....

Only joking by the way, not every day...

What Shannon and Victoria said. Sorry, Luc, didn't mean to sound judgmental... I'm just not that close with my coworkers. Sounds like great fun!

think it would be fun but know plenty of workplaces where those questions would be considered way too personal. actually i'm surprised that more people haven't said this.

When we are in a close work environment (here anyway), political correctness tends to fly out the window... and good fun ensues. I had LOTS of laughs today.

Luc:
I hesitate to post this, but.......

I realize that you want the staff to "loosen" up and have some fun.

You, as an employer, have a certain obligation to your employees, to maintain a certain amount of of decorum, if you will.

I personally find many of your proposed questions intrusive, not funny, embaressing, and way over the top of being even remotely in good fun.

Here in Pennsylvania, if you posed these same questions, in the same employer hosted type of party, you would be, on Monday, hit with an investigation if not a civil rights suit, and other types of actions.
If the majority of your employees are female, sexual harressment is just the beginning of a long list of stuff.

I am not a prude, I enjoy good fun just like everyone else. I do not want to be the butt end of your style of humor, ever.

Please think about this, and change some of your proposed questions.
Your holiday party can be fun without this type of personal invision into peoples' private lives!

Regards,
Cheryl
