Probably should just COPY and PASTE to save the time EVERYTIME, but I prefer to address the same problem with each new victim, since there may be subtle differences.

FORE MEE, it's a like a MANTRA!

Which makes it easy for me to PULL OUT it all out of my head, and anytime an OLD or NEW WICKED WITCH trys to invade our territory.
:wallhead:
ToTo, I don’t care how many times you copy and paste your post, everything you said is right on point! If it saves one florist from financial ruin, you’ve done your job. Kudos to you!

Come on

Come on people! Let's get off this string of negative's here.

Don't you understand that value of the "Brand"? And they are allowing you to piggyback off their "Brand" and they are entitled to get paid for that. Now just because you DON'T make any money on this proposition, it doesn't diminish that value that the "Brand" has.

Small business always thinks that they have to make money on everything. Making money is a right only "Brands" have. Now think positive!

Oh, yeah, your elitist business philosophy stated above is extremely “POSITIVE”.

It was Sir Issac Newton who said, "If I have been able to see farther than others, it was because I stood on the shoulders of giants."

“Piggyback off their brand” would imply that we florists “small businesses” are standing on their shoulders. Is it just me, or is your vision a little clouded?

Then why would people sign up and partner their business with one the size of 800FLWERS. The wire service business model is slanted to benefit the largest, so why would anyone sign up, pay a premium to stand in the shadow of that giant.

bloomz, you are so left coast. The fox is a tough old bird and has thick skin. It would take a whole lot more than those few words.

Now a young sprout like yourself might let something that small get under your skin. Besides, talk about those big wire service guys, might just hit too close to home for ya, bloomzy.

IT WAS DICOVERED. Right. If you didn't bring it up I guarantee it would not have been discovered.

Good for you, if you had not pushed the issue with you Rep you can bet nothing would have happened. They never find a mistake in your favor only theirs.

Heather, that's good news.(I think) I hope that after all has been resolved that it will pay off. Check out next months statement --those little boo boos usually hang in there for several months (*&%%$ computers)

Fox, are you familiar with loss leaders? A business strategy in which a business offers a product or service at a price that is not profitable for the sake of offering another product/service at a greater profit or to attract new customers. A loss leader introduces new customers to a service or product in the hope of building a customer base and securing future recurring revenue. The loss leader strategy is more than just a nifty business trick - it is a successful strategy if executed properly. Case in point: Why does a top fashion designer give a $5000.00 gown to a high paid celebrity. Because the public goes wild over the celebrity wearing the designer gown, and they run out and buy shirts, dresses, handbags, and shoes made by that fashion designer.
What does this have to do with florists & wire transfer services? Florists know other florist, and the smaller shops and especially, the new shops want to emulate the larger successful shops. So they often follow their lead, carry the same items, and sign up for the same wire services, all in hopes that they too will be successful. Everyone who has had a crash course in business 101, knows that the small "mom & pop" businesses out number the large businesses in this country. So, in essence, there is far more money to be made off of the small shops; which are in the hundreds of thousands; compared to the large shops. In short, shops like yours are a kind of loss leader; however, they (wire services) aren’t loosing any money to you. Essentially, you (the larger shop) are the hook that brings in the thousands of little fish.
You stated, "The wire service business model is slanted to benefit the largest." I agree with you on that count, and I have no ill will toward you for being one of the small percentages of benefactors.

P.S. Heather, I'm glad things were rectified, and hope they worked out to your advantage. Best Wishes!

You did GOOD GIRL! Don't let anyone SNOOKER YOU!

The word “rant” generally has a negative connotation. My apologies, if any one thought my post was negative. I am not a negative person, but I am honest. I expressed my perspective out of honesty and genuine concern for a fellow florist who was taken advantage of. The wire service companies took me to the cleaners so many times, that I thought about turning my flower shop into a dry cleaning operation. In my post it doesn’t really matter if I used name of FTD, Teleflora, or 1-800, these company names are all interchangeable. They have different names, different fees, different websites, but they all use the same unscrupulous business model. Heather knows she is dealing 1-800, so in my post I placed emphasis on the other wire services like FTD. It may have been my subconscious way of warning her that if she leaves her current wire service, and thinks about joining another service, that the others will take her for the same ride.

Hey Suzanne! They are all the same now and regardless of THE BRAND!

Also, don't get SNOOKERED into making any apologies for posting the facts of what you already know, to be the truth!

I get SO TIRED when others WHO ARE GETTING THEIRS, albeit at the FILLING FLORIST'S EXPENSE, suggest that, we're just NEGATIVE or that many of us are BASHING the WSs.

That's the same game that the Far Left Wing Liberal Progressives play when they can't argue the issues over DA FACTS!

Our goal is SIMPLE! Once BURNED, TWICE SHY, and it's up to us to tell two friends so that, they can tell two friends, etc., etc., etc..

With any luck, these MIDDLEMAN ORDER GATHER SKIMMERS along with the WSs who enable them, and in fact, ARE JUST LIKE THEM, will all dry up and die, having all their OG orders, but with NO PLACE TO GO!

Keep the faith and keep on posting, and never apologize for a RANT over FACTING! Just be happy in knowing that, you probably saved a few florists from becoming extinct, not to mention, lossing thousands of dollars each year to pay for the WS/OG PONZI SCHEMES.

SFOX has a WRY SENSE of HUMOR!

My DEAR REAL FLORIST FRIEND, SFOX, was playing at his usual wry sense of humor.

He, is one of a very small group of VERY smart real florists, who know only too well of the HEAD GAME these BRANDS try to play on their FLORIST MEMBERS and in their efforts to part those members from their money.

SFOX was just playing the head game too, and acting as the DEVIL'S ADVOCATE! Read between the lines Suzanne, and you'll realize that, he's a FRIEND OF WEE FLORISTS, not our enemy.

When the SMOKE & MIRRORS CLEAR, let us know...........

*****************UPDATE*******************

It was discovered today by a Bloomnet rep that I was double charged for some things. I will receive a payment. Just thought I'd let everyone know the outcome.

Let us all know what your final PROFITS were for filling all those orders Heather.

You mention DOUBLE CHARGE for SOME THINGS, and as was posted, had you not CHECKED YOUR STATEMENT, you would've never known.

Be advised that, this has been a COMMON PRACTICE with OGs and many actually bank on the IGNORANCE of their filler florists which enables them to add your lost revenues into their PROFIT CENTERS.

Anyway, crunch your final numbers and let all of us know if you made any profits at all, or you still wound up SPINNING YOUR WHEELS!

Call me a PESSIMIST, but I still haven't found any florist who has done anything more than just cover their COGS (cost of goods) and COD (cost of delivery) when all of their WS SMOKE & MIRROR WAMPUM clears.

What has always been missing from their FORMULAS are COL (cost of labor) and NET PROFIT!

In the final scenario, the best that these fillers can glean is fify cents on their net dollars after all of the visable and hidden charges have been deducted from DA GROSS. And, as you probably already know, and as RC put it best: Your GROSS SALES don't mean a thing! The only thing that counts is YOUR NET PROFITS and what you are able to put in your own pocket after YOU'VE DONE YOUR DOO, and YOUR DAY IS THROUGH!

And YES, it's fify cents versus fifty cents, which sounds like SPIFEY, but it's NOT PRETTY!

I have some florist friends who've had their store for 10 years. They've been Teleflora all that time. They are starting to question it but have really drunk the koolaid and think they are not a real florist w/o a wire service. I sent them Cathy's WS Profit/Expense calculator so they could figure it out for themselves. I don't know if they'll take the time to do it but if not it's their head in the sand, not mine. I know some here are working the system and making money but I would venture to guess many aren't.

Word on the street is that.............................

Now a young sprout like yourself might let something that small get under your skin. Besides, talk about those big wire service guys, might just hit too close to home for ya, bloomzy.

Word on the street is that JB is NO YOUNG SPROUT and I suspect, NO SPRING CHICKEN either!

Far as I know, he drove his HOG cross country and was at Woodstock in upstate New York back in 1969. Probably 20 or so back then, so that might make him like 59 or something by now, and surely NO YOUNG SPROUT!

In fact, this is the you tube out take of JB in his celebratory dance of the Celtic Virgins from Woodstock 1969 and after downing an LSD sugar cube, UNBEKNOWNST to HIM! lol

Toto,
You mean to tell me the ol' Fox made me get my knickers in a bunch over nothing. LoL (laugh out loud) I really thought he had breathed in too much of that aersol floral spray dye.
