Here's one for you...hot off the press this morning!

Sent a shop an order for 2 mylar & 6 latex balloons for $34.99 to include delivery.

More than enough money...but WTFDIK....

Shop comes back asking for $6.00 more, as their latex are $3.00 each!!!

We send an ANS asking filler to forward or reject.

Filler comes back with "we will do it with 2 mylars & 4 latex balloons."

NO YOU WON'T SEND LESS, YOU GOOFS!!!

Send out one more request to FOR or REJ (lots of time to avoid Delayed Response, by the way).

Waited a half an hour more...no reply so we sent a CAN and sent the order to another shop.

Ten minutes later they come back with "Ok' we'll do this order".

Don't think so, Tim! Order already gone elsewhere.

So of course what happens????

Recipient gets two sets of balloons & sender only is going pay for one.

Who swallows the cost of the extra bouquet???

The original filling shop.

Stupid...stupid...stupid...

Not so stupid filler too...

Today must be the day... stupid senders too...

Received 3 orders from the same sender today, each for $20.00 after delivery taken out...rejected with explanation...

Received the same 3 orders again about 2 hours later... um, nope, I don't think so sparky...

Okay - So my question is Who the H#$L charges $3 per latex and is still in biz...

I understand roses, and other arrangements some high end.. some grocery store - But a balloon is a balloon - no matter how you blow it up????

For heavens sake what is wrong with people, I just don't get it, I am really don't,

Dear Flower Folks,

If you dont' want to do the do, then get the hades out , of the business , that is total greed 3:00 for a latex balloon, that is pathatic, on there part, and folks can't figure out what is wrong with this business, well this a prime example of this issue, I can't go one, cause, I don't want to go to far the blood pressure can't handle it today.

It is stupid order day. We got a request to deliver a funeral arrangement to a little town 20 miles away (which we will do) for a total of $30. Take away the $20 delivery fee...and they really want us to send "something nice" for $10. Really? Ummm reject.

It's just getting better & better!!

Had another one for the same balloon bouquet but different city.

Happens to be a FRANCHISEE of a certain FREQUENT POSTER on FC!!!

They phone us back with "our mylar are $10.00 each, and our latex are $6.00 each".

ARE YOU FRICKIN' KIDDING ME????

You're not the only shop in town, so either GET REAL or GET THE FRIK OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bet these people charge less to their own customers...I bet that is a wire in only charge or as I would call it skimmed cahrge, oh yes many many shops have prices set different for wire ins....

Doug Munro has a thread started Official Problems W/ Fulfiller Shops List .

I bet he'd love for you to post your experience there with the shop's name.

Exactly what I told my staff!!!

Turn around & phone them & act like a "regular" customer & see what the prices are.

But we're like most customers that are p*zzed off, we just take our business elsewhere & the shop will never know why they've lost our business.

What I really hate is that this shop "used" to be on our preferred filler list...

Ya' think????????????

lollollol

OOPS...can't post over there because I have a propensity to use veiled bad language and wouldn't want to tarnish Doug's realm. So I will post it here instead. It's frickin' Grower Direct in Red Deer. Don't use them for balloons...they gouge...(sshhhhh...)

Although I could go on and on about WS blah, blah, blah..... I won't this time. I just wonder what the price would be if you happened to call direct? On Wire-Ins when I belonged to WSs, after membership fees, transmission fees, listing fees, some months I would only make 15% to 20% on a wire-in (some months were in the hole!). Applying that kind of realistic % to a wire-in latex balloon at $6.....makes the price $1.20 each which is probably what this shop was doing. They were probably trying to get their walk-in price after all the WS fees?

By the way, not saying this is ethical and I would NEVER do this so don't beat me up. I am just writing outloud trying to find a reason any shop would charge $6 for a latex. Scratching my head.....

IMO $34.99 total incoming order is nothing to get excited about no matter what you are asking for!
$10-12 goes to delivery which leaves you $22-24.95 to fill order, which isn't all that profitable, 2 mylars @ $5 each & 6 latex @$2 each. I would think you also need a balloon weight to hold them down which also cost money.

I am not a stupid filler, as a matter of fact I do not fill for WS at all ;)

However, I don't think their request for a little more $ was all that out of line, most florists have a minimum order for wire ins for a reason, and when you send a low amount of money, IMO anything less than $40, is a loss, when filling incoming wire orders.

I agree that the florist handled it wrong, you cannot play with the price, and then decide you will do it for less after you asked to cancel order, that's stupid. They should have just refused order after you denied price change....

PS- balloons are a PITA, especially latex, and are usually a complaint wating to happen anyway...BWTFDIK ;)

All I am saying Preston is I am not all that surprised. You should be used to this kind of crap by now, it's the WS game

The reality is that if a shop is causing you continuous problems I strongly suggest you post it.

By the same token if you have actually read my thread you will have noted that I clearly state that it is not intended as a witchhunt.

In this case Prestonway is in fact reporting one time issues with two individually owned flower shops.

Yes it is true that they are part of a franchise, however I would liken the situation to having a problem with an Los Angelos florist and a San Diego florist and then bad mouthing all California florists.

So, in a nutshell if Prestonway feels that these are truly problematic fulfillers then he will post them.

After all that is the intention of the thread I started.

I will say in closing that it will certainly be a long a long and ongoing thread once every problem with every florist nationwide is posted.

In fact if our shops are posted I will bring it to the attention of the owners so that they can provide their rebuttal ( if they desire) and more importantly resolve the situation moving forward.

at most flower shops 34.99 should have covered their delivery and product including a weight...at regular everyday prices...at most florists...The first one says they charge 3 dollars a mylar, maybe they do, whos to say they don't...the second one is just yanking it with those crazy prices...they should be run out of the biz...crazy ass florists..

in discussion of delivery prices tho: Saw a florist in LA has a posted $15 delivery charge. So could you have filled this for $20.

not defending this guy

Because I actually DID read your thread, I deliberately created a separate thread to comment on isolated incidents.

It is exactly why I didn't include my comments on your thread(s), on preferred & bad fillers...I didn't want them part of your "sticky" threads.

I posted them only for discussion in terms of the state of our industry in general, & the state of certain shops' attitudes in particular.

But now that you mention it, it does make me wonder...

How can you expect there to be consistency in our industry, when there's not even any modicum of consistency in a franchise network?

How can you propose lower margins and increased customer counts as being critical to the success of florists, and then hammer me for bringing this incident of grossly inflated prices to your attention?

The problem may not be industry...it might be in your own back yard...but please go on & continue to attack the messenger...

That is why I said most....Most florists have a 7-10 dollar delivery charge...and most florists charge 5 dollars for a mylar and 2 dollars for a latex....anyone with these prices should be able to fill it..
