Supply and Demand. . . .

OK, I'll be the first to reply....

NO!!!

But then again, we did not raise ours either. We had decided that if it went to $3.00 and stayed there for a time, that we would have to...that did not happen here.

We adjusted to the higher gas price by eliminating 1-2 stop delivery runs, some time slots and by consolidating deliveries so the vans left with more on board than they might have earlier.

I doubt that anyone that did raise them due to higher fuel costs will lower them. Most florists I know that used the higher prices as an excuse to raise delivery charges will keep them where they are, since most if not all had little complaint issues from the consumer, and face it, we're still the best deal in town...same day delivery 5-10 bucks....

When I do raise/change delivery fees, I usually do it in the summer, when biz is a little slower...and honestly...folks never notice, and if they do they do not complain.

No... because conversely, what goes down will go up the next time an oil baron farts.

Or the mid-term elections are over.... which ever comes first.

BTW, we never raised our prices here, either.

In our case, as we have no general elections federally or provincially, I think it's likely the former will occur first... after all the offenders are full of it. ;)

That's what we did also.

Mark: How can a U.S. President increase or decrease the barrell price of crude oil?

Shell is a Dutch co., Amoco/BP is a Brit co (I believe)

I believe Citgo is owned by the Venzualean National Oil Co.

Exxon/Mobil I believe is still a U.S. co, but I may be wrong.

Are you saying that all these oil companies that are foreign owned are colluding with a U.S. President?

I know your above mentioned comment is a populist opinion, but I just can't see it.

As far as my thinking goes, the power brokers play every day... here anyway. The price fluctuates on a whim or a fume or something. Literally in five minutes of the price of oil rising by pennies, our gas goes up. However, when the world price drops by pennies... the pump price is slower to move.

There is no way anyone can explain to me how or why that makes any sense at all.

To think it won't rise again for whatever reason, is optimistic at best. So I will leave the delivery price alone.

It's somewhat possible the Big Oil has a preference for the Republican party, like most other large corporations. Let's face it...the Repub's are good for corporate America. They believe in big business, and probably rightfully so. Large corporations pay good wages to many of it's US employees, although in the never ending quest to improve the bottom line, many jobs are being shipped overseas.

So, yeah, we may be seeing a collusion by the oil companies to help Repubs in the mid-term elections...

We aren't lowering ours because you can bet gas will be going back up. But don't you find it interesting that the prices really started to fall after the BP big wheels got called on the carpet in the congressional hearings.

Something to ponder.

Yesterday I saw gas for $1.96 at one station off I-85 while I was traveling between Greenville, SC, and Charlotte, NC.

Ours has crept down to 82.9 at some stations. (approx. $3.31/gal)

The gas prices and the strong dollar has played havoc with some of the resort areas around here. The Americans are staying home.

Well, last night on the news our area HAD some of the cheepest gas prices in the state. 2.03 - 2.12/gal. Today 2.30.

I am waiting............

lol Have suppliers and wholesalers lowered their prices due to lower jet fuel and lower diesel prices............... I am waiting.......................

not holding my breath, was $2.49 last Saturday is $2.57 today - they must have watched the national news last night when they said the economy was starting to boom again. Darn national news :hammer:

No, we are not lowering them here. Neither has any company/vendor that we do business with. Even though fuel prices might be falling, our labor, insurance, and maintenance costs are still on the increase.

We charge $7.99 for in-town delivery and very, very few customers mind at all.
