Sweethearts or spray roses?

Do you use sweethearts or spray roses for wristlet's and corsages?

I've been using canadian sweethearts, but prefer the look of spray roses. My wholesaler says the sweethearts are more reliable. With glue though, I don't think stem strength is an issue.

Thoughts?
are you talking to the sales person at your wholesalers?....you know the one that was promoted from driver just two weeks ago?LOL

we never use sweethearts...always spray:)

for 8 years we had s/h roses brought in from Holland, 1.00 per sweetheart. And then we decide to try spray roses, they worked out great, we ask only for the best spray roses.

If you are concerned about sprays or other flowers opening too fast or using them in a mature stage of bloom.......AFTER you make your corsage, Spray it with an anti-transpirant/ sealer - such as Crowning Glory, Chrysal Glory, or other sealant.

Sprays like Finishing Touch, Hawaiian Mist, and others are not sealants.....they actually help to nourish the bloom.

DO NOT DIP OR SUBMERGE your flower in anti-transpirant/sealer BEFORE you design.....unless you are going to wire and tape all the way.....the sealer creates a waxy, smooth coating that prevents cold glues and hot glues alike from adhering.

No. Actually, both wholesalers that I go to told me this. I use mostly white though, and accent with color for wedding work. I am learning lots from the all the posts, thanks again.

I'm not too fond of the colored sweets...especially champaigne and one that was supposed to be the same color as a black magic...blah!

I'm going to try a good quality spray, and see how it goes. I wasn't too happy with Eufloria the first time I was going to order from them 2 years ago, because I lined up a white with pink tipped rose a few months before a wedding, then one month before, I am placing my order and the salesperson tells me they ripped them all up.

But, since so many of you are having such good product with them, I'm thinking of trying again.

Any other growers you recommend?

We always use spray roses for our corsage work. I have never had any problems with them.
As for good spray roses we buy locally from Green valley floral they have fantastic roses!

We had changed to using spray roses but had too many complaints because the roses were so small, I think we lost customers over it too. The hot pink sprays were especially small, miniscule to be exact and they were the same from everyone. We now mostly use sweethearts. Did quite a few calla wristlets this last time, enjoy the look of those alot, but I felt they needed to be wired and taped.

I just about use anything in the cooler for corsgaes...I rip petals off gerberas and use them, I make faux calla lilies out of roses petals and use them, spray roses, stock blossoms, freesia, snap blossoms, delphinium blossoms, alstro, what ever goes with the dress color....

I also try not to get too much input from the kids, it hinders our creativity, unless of course they are a promzilla, then it is way better to go specific and make her highness happy...

Spray roses I have found work the best. If you are looking for a great white spray rose try Snow Princess, they are beautiful and a really good white and they do not blow open. Snow Princess is what we use, see if your supplier can get those for you.

We've used Majolica White Sprays from Flowerbuyer......they're super (usually)

Nothing looks as ridiculous as a 100lb. Size 2 promette wearing a huge 90cm rose on her wrist.......looks like "the eagle has landed " ! Definitely a grocery store look ! Also for bouts---too large and they flop ! 15 yrs of using hot melt pan glue without a problem (designer has a problem with allergic reaction to the acetone in glues )
