What I did on my day off...

Be nice now, these are right out of the camera, have not had time to do anything with them yet....part of the 48 pieces we did for one service today, the lady I mentioned last weekend that "requested flowers" in her obit.

We have several more to do for tomorrow, did a dinner tonight, and have a "High Tea" for tomorrow as well...

(Smith's 48+, competitors 5 total... I love it when a plan comes together)

Got to love someone who requests flowers for their funeral. I wish I would have known her...I'm sure she is smiling down on you from heaven!
Kind of an awesme way to spend a day off, honouring someone who loved flowers as much as we do.

Just curious what does the casket spray and the sides pieces sell for in your area?
All of the pieces are beautiful. I love funeral work not the hassle of wedding work.

I'm with you, Spooky Flowers. Funeral work is just so soothing for the soul. Wedding work, we are always praying our flowers come in looking like a #10 after hydration!

Weddings are just a pain anymore. I thought it was just me hating them. I fell I'm not paid enough for the work I do.
I even gotten tips from funeral work in the last few weeks.

I'm in rural american and I'm lucky to have $1400 for a whole funeral. Most of our casket sprays run around $200.00 and sets pieces are $45 and up.
They were great pieces and you did a great job of the photos.

Yea, me too. I have been upping the pricing a bit trying to get to $250 but I still get requests for $125 casket sprays! Those end up being a small carnation and greeny spray that really doesn't showcase my shop well. I hope when people see the spray they realize it was a low budget spray and not a greedy florist. It is hard to design a $125 spray for the "WOW" factor, ya know?

I still get the $20 funeral spray I say I can't do it for that and you think I am giving them a death sentence. They don't pay a dollar a gallon for gas anymore but they think flowers are cheap for some reason.

What goes into a 20.00 funeral spray???

I cannot even imagine what that looks like in the funeral home compared to the normal 75-100 dollar piece...do you get complaints?

I am not picking on you and I do know that these people exist, but when I get one of these types, I would let them know that most people spend x and that this would be really small in comparison, I would even stop doing sprays and make them get a table arrangement like a 4" basket of daisy and poms, to nip that in the bud...If you keep providing the impossible, they will keep the amount low...

When I bought this store, there were a huge amount of people who wanted to spend less than 50 on funeral pieces, my funeral sprays and baskets start at 50...I was doing table arrangements and people were not 100% happy, so at the suggestion from people here, I started selling to these people a little bit more and letting them know that most people spend more between 75-100 and I got them to at least spend the 75, the complains and groans immediately stopped...The complaints weren't that my designs were not good, it was more that the designs looked small and skimpy compared to the others sent, so my shop was taking the brunt of that, it was my job to make sure that if the customer decides that they want to spend signifigantly less than the average that they know way ahead of time that it will be signifigantly smaller than most of what is sent....basicaly in a nice way, I am warning them that their selection will look cheap and embarrassing with out calling them a cheap skate...I word it so that they are shamed into at least spending the average price...I do still get people who send a 30.00 table arrangement or dish garden, but they are well aware that it is a thought and not a standard....

As done, about $1400.00 for the three pieces...

And yes Sher.... I know... thank the Lord for Photo Shop....

Am I missing something here? $1400 for 3 pieces? Wow!

I wish I could get $467 each for casket spray, and head and foot pieces!

The arrangements are beautiful by the way, I just have a hard time adding up to that price.
