And Master J...

The Spray was $695.00, matching's were $325.00 each... we charge 30% labor on sympathy work, so, about $400.00 of that was labor which included going out to the family property and cutting pines and local foliage, going back to the FH this morning and checking, hauling the spray to the church and set up at the church.

The spray alone had 60 roses in it, that's $225.00 alone...

The "High Tea" for after today's service was another grand for 4 pieces for the hotel...

"Know what your stuff is worth".... and "Charge Accordingly"!

SEND me flowers people for my funeral!!! Love that lady!

Beautiful work!

Turn down work unless I get at least $75?

So, if the customer is a little old lady living in low-income housing with only her social security to live on, I should turn down her $20 vas of carnations? My view is that she may be poor, and can't afford $75-100, however, she is sending flowers.
My customers know up from that what they will get is the vase with the carnations and greens. I usually have one in the cooler to show if they are an in-store customer.
I also believe that she will tell her family how nice, understanding, and helpful the lady is at the Kukkakauppa is, and that when she dies, she wants them to get flowers from us for her casket.
I do suggest that funeral flowers start at $75, however, in this depressed economy with many, many, many poor people in our community, I am happy to sell even a $20 vased arrangement. It's $20 more in my cash register than if they leave and send a mass card or go to another shop. People know my work and know that I do high end, as well as am willing to work with those who can only afford 6 beautiful carnations with deep green fern in a clear vase!

I don't believe anyone said to turn anyone away for any amount of money, I know I sure didn't...just mentioning that a funeral spray or basket done at 20.00 may not be sometyhing that she would want to continue to do...I would do a vase of 6 carns if that was what the customer wanted, I would do a single rose in a budvae also, but if someone wanted me to make a 30 or 35 dollar funeral basket, i would give them ample warning that it may look inferior to the rest of the pieces on the floor and then guide them that maybe a take home vase or table arrangement might be recieved better...
