We got home from holidays Sat. am. We knew our Border Collie was getting old as she would have been 13 next month. Got up this am and her bladder had lost all control,i had to take her down outside 4 times in less than 3 hours. I went to our Vets house this am and we talked it over , he said he would come here and put her to sleep.I was able to stay with her and hold her till the end. She is pain free now ,as her back end was starting to go and she was having trouble with the stairs and i was so afraid she was going to fall going down. She was a amazing dog , best friend and loyal companion but it was her time. Tears have be flowing here all day but she is chasing the hell outta the sheep now. Miss you Molly you where a wonderful dog!

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

---- I still cry from time to time when I remember the good times that I shared with my pet dog Prissy. Even though I have a little boy dog named Ace....Prissy was special.

Joanne, I'm sorry for your loss. My dog is my best friend and goes everywhere with me. I dread the day I have to make that decision but it is the most loving thing you can do for your pet. Feel better soon.

Joanne, I'm almost to that point with my 8 yr old (8 on Thanksgiving) labrador. Pinched nerves in his back makes him unable to climb stairs. I have a ramp into the house and lift him in and out of the van to go to work everyday. It's only a matter of time so I'm getting all the loving and giving as much as I can. My prayers are with you and remind you, THEIR quality of life has so much meaning... that our decisions never come easy.... Hugs

Joanne, BIG HUG

I send comfort and healing to you. I know how awful and empty things feel right now. Please understand that there are others in the world who care about you and your dreadful loss, we all mourn for you.

Let the tears flow when they come, but also remember that Molly is now past her pain.

So Sorry about your loss, We are true animal lovers, It is so hard when you have to put a pet down, all I can say is that you will have memories forever. I donot even want to think about that day for any of my dogs or cats. you have our deepest sympathy. Take care.

Oh dear, Joanne I know that horrible feeling you have in the pit of your stomach now and unless you have lost an animal that you were close to, people just dont understand.

We lost a dog called Molly a couple of years ago and I can now look back fondly but for the first few weeks it was really bad. It does get better with time.

Lots of hugs and thoughts coming over the pond for you,you did the right thing and she is in no pain now and the rainbow poem will help you xxx

Molly is past the Rainbow Bridge (one of my favourite things to send to my clients).

How fortunate you all were to have eachother, and how blessed she was to have you make the tough decision out of love.

Hugs to you Joanne.

I can't imagine my life without my little "Cloie", peke & @@@@zu mix. I love her so so much and from the bottom of my heart I am so sorry for you. I could cry just setting here thinking about your loss & my eventual loss. So many times after someone loses such a precious pet they say they never want another. The way I look at it is, animals are going to live & die regardless of who owns them. So even though I am so sad over the loss of a pet that should not prevent me from owning another. You can feel good about giving your pet the nicest home & best care you could give her while she was alive. So many animals are mistreated & not loved. Your dog died in your presence with your love. Thant's all an animal wants, your love and you gave her that. Tears for now, it can't be avoided, but good memories are ahead. My heart goes out to you.
