I knew having postal people as friends and family would come in handy one day. Since we don't get discounts on stamps. hehe!
But, I can tell you that mail in bags or trays does not sit on a dock for more than an hour at most.
All postal canvas bags or trays are easily identifed as first class mail. They have tags and other information on the bags or trays. It is routed immediately to the cities it goes to.
Post Office has literally thousands of folks working night and day. Addresses are scanned mechanically,no more people sitting at sorting benches and doing it by hand.
Mail is received via trucks daily, and all of that mail is worked that day/night, basicly emtying out the facility until the next mail truck comes.
Now, if all TF's mail was on a truck and it wrecked, the mail might be delayed a day, as a truck is dispatched to the wreck site and the mail goes on it's way.
Again not likely since it is going all over the country, and these shops are from all over he country.
It would be impossible for bags of first class mail (or any mail for that matter) to sit in a facility since Dec 25. Yes, once in a great while you hear of one letter being found years later in a mail bag. That is a rare fluke, as canvas bags are turned inside out to check for letters.
Sorry Nicole/TF this one ya really can't blame on the PO. Looks like someone gave you some bad info.
Have a great day and hope you all get your "monies" real soon!
