JB -

TF sent out a Dove message yesterday promising they would not use the entries for future marketing. In capital letters, the message includes a note that they will be manually scrubbing the customer list to make sure they do not "retain your customer information."

Seems they heard from more than one florist about this...

Question is do we believe them....

I called and complained about that and the Mother's day recipe problem...

hope everyone else did..

Well awesome - glad to have played a part in it.

I still ain't putting those posters up. Something about a story of a scorpion crossing the river on a frog's back.

Anybody else?

Check for $1,800.00

I might just send you $300 bucks if you keep me laughing! I love honest critiques!!!!!

Ok, here it is, my rubber check for 1,800.00 that was uselessly spent.
Dumb Dumb Dumb Dumb and Dumber !
Go ahead kick me, I deserve it.

But ain't be doin it no more.
( Did produce for us to break even or better but my principles won't allow it again )

Ya know how much steak and Absolute I could nuy for that ?

Good Post !!!!!:scooter:

I've only own my shop 5 yrs, from the first floral ass. meeting I went to all the way to this day, I've heard the some words from florist and owners.
I remember the first meeting everyone fussing about their WS, With so much wrong, still wonder why shops stay? I used WS for 2 yrs or more wasn't for me. With tec. at the worlds finger tips, more and more people call direct, times are changing, we all need to web together and find our own direct link to each other. Big Brother is getting fatter pockets than any of us. This lady can find other cause's that need her money more, like food on my own table.
How about it? I have shops that call me -I call them- we bill each other- so on.....:gossip:

So Teleflora is so bad

OK Teleflora is terrible. All they are trying to do is gather orders. They are marketing Teleflora.com.

So what's the answer, join FTD or Bloomnet/800FLOWERS? Are the other companies any better? Do they try to do anything different? Or is the drop shipped items they promote better than florist delivered items?

Is paying the $500.00 a month FTD tries to extract a better alternative? Are you on a higher moral ground because you send your money to one of the other two?

Are FTD's/Bloomnet/800FLOWERS MOther's day promotions going to do more for florists?

Rant

No, none of those promotions are going to do anything FOR Florists. That's just it. It's frustrating to watch TF pad their pockets while we, the real florists out here, the one's who enabled them to exist in the first place are dying. They are contributing to the demise of the real floral industry, they talk a good talk but when it comes right down to it they are hurting us not helping. And that goes for all of them, not just TF.
I'm sure everyone here has ideas and opinions of what these wire services should be doing for us. But are they going to change or listen to us?

Will not have Valentine's Day products, sharing with another local tele florist the mother's day & codify both of us. All the wire services are exploiting the working florists. The system needs restructured, we all need to drop ads, drop any extra line items, and then what? They will raise the dues? Teleflora, Ftd, 1800, all of them want our help on valentine's afternoon, and mother's day, when we need to take care of our own customers.

We weren't sure if we wanted to carry the VDay products but since Teleflora waited until the day of the deadline, we declined. I am so happy that we did.

As for the Mother's Day, we MIGHT carry one but that is it. The rest, in my opinion, are substandard. I found real china teapots CHEAPER than the crappy ones w/Teleflora. So, if we get any calls about the teapots, we will let our customers know that we can upgrade them to real bone china teapots .

Don't even get me started on the co-op advertising. I normally do not like to be negative, however, the co-op advertising, in my opinion, are a waste of money. We do not sign up for this at all and if a customer brings in a coupon, we will gladly redeem it. $5 verses $300!

What I really hate about the co-op advertising is once you sign up, good luck getting it to stop. It is on an automatic renewel. It will continually print for each and every holiday even if you don't have the container.

Coop advertising is a sucker play, pure and simple.

IF you do it, next year take the $300 and go get your head examined.

Or better yet, send it to me and I'll diagnose you.

You're nucking futs.

Hi Everyone,

Here's my take on Teleflora. I was a Teleflora member, a hardly got any orders from them. I addressed this on several occasions, and nothing was ever done. So, you can see at the end of each month, instead of getting a check from them, I ended up having to issue THEM a check for all their fees.

About a year ago, I had to close shop, and decided to focus just on weddings - which I now operate out of my home office/workroom. I advised them of the situation, that I'd like to close the account. (Aside from the fact that since I no longer had a retail space, I couldn't be a member). Their directory had already gone out, and of course, my shop was in there. They continued charging me for another 2 months for advertising after I discontinued service. Any orders I received via phone from other Teleflora members were rejected - simply because I couldn't fill the orders. My claim is why are they still charging me when I'm no longer a member. Anyhow, this went on for a year, and I just finally settled with them.

I recommend going with FTD.... same situation. I received a lot of orders from them. When I called to cancel, they were very responsive, no questions asked.

Whew! I had to get that out. Thanks for letting me vent.

I love writing checks to wire services.

Seriously.

The bigger the better.

They are charging you because you are in the directory...just like if you sign up for a year in the phone book in January and go out of business in march you still have to pay for the rest of the year. You need to quit by the middle of the current directory in order to be out of the next one....and then if they owe you money, you have to wait for them to pay you another 120 days from the last month you were in the directory for all orders to be reconciled...

Oops, my bad

I'm am so sorry everyone. I guess I was just so upset that I got my wire services mixed up.

Let me make this right: It's FTD that wouldn't give me the break.

I understand I was already in the directory, but the fact was that I didn't even take any orders after I closed shop. I was also in the directory with Teleflora, and they were very accommodating... didn't charge me anything after I cancelled.

nOpe, will not be stocking any containers...they all look like dollar general containers....and way too overpriced. I'm fed up - f them and their stupid web recipes. every month they're putting out another 30 recipes for me to reveiw and re-price.....AAARRRRGH. IT'S almost saturday, it's almost saturday...
