The Law of Attraction

Back to the wisdom given to us freely. It is of no value unless we put it to work. That may take guts and most certainly, it takes faith.
Well said, Tom! It takes wisdom to know that.

Well, i didnt really get some of the the threads, i dont read the bible but i do consider myself religious in that i believe and i try to do good by people. I also pray to give thanks for my lucky life.

I also try to think positive all the time, and i think that if you genuinley try to do good by people and put the hard work in then good things will happen to you. I think the intuition of a positive person is greater. JMO

I think that if you are negative and wait for things to happen then only bad things will happen.

Bad things can still happen to positive people but if you are positive then you are less likely to focus on the bad stuff.. I hope this makes sense.:eek:face

We went shopping yesterday in Seattle - My Sister in Law who lives up there told me we could never never park anywhere close to Nordstroms, we should leave the car and take a ferry and walk there.

I told her about visualizing a parking place (ala The Secret) and she poo pooed it, said no way it'll never happen.

I told her I was counting on it.

Told wife to picture one in her head as I did and guess what???

Right outside the door of Nordstroms! On Black Saturday no less.

Don't anybody even try to tell me this shiznit doesn't work.

Well, I've been known to pray for a parking place on occasion. Of course, I pray about everything, sort of a running conversation.....

Awww jeez, since reading "The Secret", I've been known to say "thank you" in advance for the street lights staying green! I wasn't gonna mention it, but after Bloomz and Connie, why not. lol

Bloomz, I took my dgtr and a friend up to the Museum of Glass in Tacoma on Saturday. We probably passed on I-5! Small world.

"What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." - Mark 11:24

"Whatsoever ye shall ask in prayers, believing, ye shall receive." - Matthew 21:22

Frank

While asking for, praying for, and believing in what you desire are strong there is still nothing like getting up off your ass and making things happen for yourself. Combine this with your mind games and you have something strong and a little more realistic. Hard work seems to be the thing that sometimes gets me what I want.

P. Bird

I believe that "Faith without works is dead". (James 2:17 and 24) ...actually all of James talks about this (I think). In fact, even Paul states that even if he had "all faith" but lacked charity, he would be nothing (1 Cor. 13:3), and concludes that among faith, hope, and charity, charity is the greatest (1 Cor. 13:13). The idea that faith alone is sufficient is simply not what the Bible teaches.

In Laymen's terms: "You can't get something for nothing".

There are tons of different sects of Christianity and ways of interpreting those words on the pages of the Bible so I guess people have to try to understand it in the best way they can and the ideas I've read made a lot of sense to me.

And it's not "mind games" for me, it's aligning my thoughts with God and His will for me.

Others may have a different idee or mindset on it but I'm not gonna belittle or tell you you're wrong. You do your thing, I'll do mine.
:)

Amen to that...

Thinking we can manipulate God through faith turns God into a vending machine.

Ryan

I read no mention of "Manipulating God". Actually the thought is quite absurd! What I have been reading and getting from all this is: "Possitive thoughts/attitudes bring Possitive actions". How in the world can this be against God's teachings?!

I, for one, predict that I will succeed, my imagination is intact, and Doug's "vibrations" remind me every day, that those that are "doomed" have adopted that mantra.
When "failure" is NOT an option, a parking spot will emerge, and time itself, WILL BE the judge of my past, and my GOD will be the judge of my future.

While it is always a good policy to never discuss politics, race or religion when trying to make friends and influence people, I must, after being prompted by a red dot from our fearless leader, react.

This is what I posted

For I am a firm believer in doing or taking action to making things happen.
The post is in no way intended detrimental to any one, my aim was only to debate from the other side of the issue at hand.
This intellectual post was turned into a prayer meeting by?

God is not a name, it is more like a title similar to administrator or diety, just as human being is not a name, you have a name and so does God.

More to the point, as an adult American male it's difficult to have some one treaten your freedoms, freedom to have your own ideas, speak your mind, my own religion not yours.
Not only do I deserve an apology, and removal of the dreaded red dot, someone needs to red dot themselves. This is a chat room, not high school or the military and my Mother is dead.
She would be proud of me standing up for myself.
With this said I don't think the great and powerful wizard would welcome me back to prayer meeting.

Paradise Bird

Which fearless leader are you referring to?

There were no dots from me.

Ryan

This is bad
Someone red dotted me, saying that my post was somewhat negative, Outspoken yes, negative no. Does that mean you should only speak when you agree. It is too bad that the dotter is anonymus, for I would like to speak privately with them, for they must have issues.

P Bird,

I don't think the person who gave you the dot is the one with issues. First you when on a rant aimed at an admin on this board, without any basis, and now you're completely misquoting the reputation comment (which was very respectfully worded).

My suggestion is to take a deep breath and think twice before posting again and causing more trouble for yourself.

Ryan

Wow sorry I missed this one, but P.Bird your somewhat rambling posts don't make any sense to me.

Not to be ugly, but they sound like the MaryJane was passed around somewhere.

What exactly did the red dot giver say. Please tell us.

I've had red dots, I think most of us have. Few however have blamed Ryan. In fact he's pretty much a background kinda guy, (although I did
enjoy his lengthy posting of bible verses).

Attraction

Red Dot, Green Dot in the whole multitude of Infinite Manifestations of Being we can see on a Chat Community that certin thoughts when held in consciousness and then expressed through deeds and actions do attract an effect.

Someone attracted a Red Dot. It does not happen by chance, if it did the then The Law of Chance would be the operating Law. Even then the Law of Chance would still be Immutable and governed by Law.

Discovering a Law does not create it, The Law of Gravity did not start when Newton saw the apple fall. The Law of Attraction did not start when a writer sat down to write a book.

Look around your world, your reality see everything that you associate with your expression of Self, how did it get there?

The important thing is what you think and believe about this or any matter.
