I went to my Doc yesterday and we discused Champix ( stop smoking cessation) . We agreed it would be the best one to try as others i had tried hadn't worked (but not sure i was that committed). This Sunday it will be a year since my Mom deid from lung cancer and 14 yrs my younger brother the same.It has taken a while to come to this decision but i know in my heart and body i want to stop. so today i started the program and quit day is jun 15 or 16 . It is now almost 4 pm and i have only had 3 smokes so i think i can really beat this or i pray i am going to be this
Please wish me all the luck and be my Coaches!!! and or Cheering Section!!! LOL

Good for you!! I have been trying to get my parents to stop smoking all my life. They won't even consider it.

Please post your progress as I'll be praying for you. It won't be easy but it will be worth it!

God Bless!!!

May i suggest you get a dvd called " alan carrs easy way to stop smoking". I attended his course 8 years ago and gave up smoking for 4 years without even wanting one, that is what makes it easy - that there is no willpower as you dont even want it. My husband also gave up after watching this and never smoked since. He watched it twice and loved it. We always keep hold of it just in case we ever really need it.

These days, i have to admit i do have the odd ciggie when having a drink but that is so few and far between that they are not worth mentioning... The idea of smoking on a daily basis does not enter my head.

Before this, i smoked 10 - 15 a day.

Good luck whatever you decide, it was one of the best things i have ever done and felt great immediately after it.

Good Luck with quitting. Please be very careful taking this drug as well as Chantix. I took it with no problems, no side effects at all, but I have had two friends that went on it, causing horrible mood swings and depression. The worst part was that they loved the drug and were committed to quitting smoking and did not even realize the adverse effects it was having on their psyche, making them suicidal. I talked with one of my friends several times a week and realized as little by little what this drug was doing to her. It was hard convincing her to go off the drug even after she had become reclusive, non-social and her wonderful marriage was falling apart. In week 10 I finally got through to her and convinced her to go off the drug to see if her mood would change. She agreed to one week off, that was the week that saved her life. Each day off the drug brought a brighter mood and better outlook, within two weeks she was back to the loving wife, awesome mother and best friend anyone could ask for. This happened one year ago, she remains smoke free today.

Do not trust yourself to know when it is affecting you...make sure the good friends and family know what you are on and to watch for mood swings, dampened spirits, etc.. and be brutally honest with you if they see any of it.

We be cheering!

I too am on the 43rd time trying to quit....again this Sunday... I really don't want to because I enjoy it, but physically I know I have to. This time, I'm monetizing the issue in my head and looking at the $10.00 a day... that's a new Harley easy....

Best wishes, YOU CAN DO THIS~!

I feel wonderful, Can smell again (omg) that part is freaking me out LOL. i was a pack and a half user ,yesterday only had 5 which i was amazed. I don't feel sick or nauseas(sic) , only that is sciatica is killing me , can't go for a walk yet, tried that Monday am and screwed things up pretty good, so with the meds and heating pad it is slowly coming along. Man i just have to learn to slow down , like thats gonna happen!

I've heard great great things about hypnosis as a tool to quit smoking
Not self hypnosis, not a tape, but actual clinical hypnosis.
I'm considering going to a clinical hypnotist because I don't eat ANY vegetables at all and the doctor that I talked to said "If there is a psychological barrier then tapes won't work, you'll need hypnosis in conjunction with the clinical therapy end"
He said he has the most success with smokers.

Just think, when you both succeed neither of you will stink. :)

I've never been a smoker.....but I firmly believe that smoking was a major contributor in Mom's passing. You can do this. My Mom left this world before she could quit totally, but she had cut down dramatically considering she was a 40+ year smoker.

Chantelle.......I might have a solution for your veggies..........JUICING !!!

Most medical people say you shou;d be consuming 5 raw fruits and veggies per day......By any stretch of the imagaination, that is hard to do. However, each morning, I do just that.....in juice form. I have one of the Juiceman juicers and I put in the machine each morning......2 stalks celery, 2 carrots, 1/2 stalk/head of broccolli, ( 3 servings right there )....I add to that 2 apples, 2 oranges, and depending on what's in season.......1/4 cantaloup, 5 strawberries, 1 plum, 1 pear. ( well over the five servings ).....in ONE TALL GLASS.....
