Hummm. SPECIAL MESSENGER?
Heck we have been the SPECIAL MESSENGER for YEARS.......now a day's folks seem to need to MAKE BIG BUCKS doing it? And we wonder why were not making it in todays world?????Last time I checked were just selling flowers stupid me...not Cable service or Phone repair which is IMPORTANT according to the consumers mind. Flowers? sheety they are just an add on with everydays life not LIFE FUNCTIONS.
I find if you want to charge one 24.99 for a delivery after say 3:00 pm then you just gave them and excuse to SHOP THE STUPPERMARKETS.

Yes, but not only will the supermarkets not deliver his flowers after 3pm. They won't deliver them at all (Well most of them anyway).
We are increasingly using this function of special delivery. If they want a delivery that our delivery driver cannot possibly deliver we offer to take someone off the floor to deliver it BUT they have to pay for their time we are losing. And incredibly most have been thankful, I have been reluctant to implement something like this but we seem to have underestimated our customers need and willingless to pay for this service.

We have found that that these "last minute" dudes are just on their way home anyway and if we cannot do it for them CHEAP they will just stop in a SUPERMARKET EXPRESS and pick up some crappy bouquet and some Ice Cream and Cake. She will love the Cake and such and the Flowers will just make for a nite of REMEMBERANCE. Regardless....were loosing SHARE to the one stop and Rock.
Things are different within 100 miles.. yes?

If they are on thier way home they don't need it delivered, they can just as easy come and pick up our 2 Dozen Roses arranged for $49.95 or 1 Doz sleeved C&C for $14.95 or whatever they would like.
Sorry but if someone cannot understand that they will have to pay more for us to drop what we are doing to make sure their order gets out in an unrealistic time frame, that isn't my fault. But like I said we have not had many problems with that happening. In fact I would say we have gotten MORE orders because we ARE willing to do that for a fee instead of telling them that we cannot deliver it until the next day. Like I said before I think we might underestimate our customers needs for this kind of service.
But like you said different strokes...this is something 8 years ago I would have never thought of even attempting but now it seems like something that will actually be happening more and more.
P.S. You remembered the cake, ice cream and flowers, but you forgot the whip cream...that is what really makes the night complete LOL

You forgot the rose petals too.
Perhaps do up a "Love package" for those last minute shoppers, filled with all the above to make that night truly something to remember.
