Being a pragmatist myself, I actually liked almost everything he said, including his opinions on 80/20 split, Drop-ship models. I'm guessing that's where your "BIG problems" are, since you are very idealistic. :)

Anyway, I liked when he said the train has already left, reagrding drop-shipping. I feel the same way, too. Rather than complaining about OG's, Drop-shippers, etc, I would rather want to find a way to take adavantage of them.

This goes along with with Bob negen's column on page 2 that says the blamers will be gone by middle of next year...

I also didn't see anything wrong with that interview.

Remember who he's replacing and all the cockamanie stuff that's been tried during his regime.

I'm with Boss on this new guy. I read the same SAF article, CEO's comments were rude, flippant, and I don't think he cares at all for the florist making his $$. What a jerk.

So glad I'm out!!!! Virtually every shop I speak with, wants to talk about how they wish they were out of WS's, and the changes FTD has made.
Even the Rep's are leaving them.

Who says you can't be a "blamer" & "doer" at the same time? I remember *somebody* blaming a certain president for loads of our problems.

It's OK to blame as long as you're 'doing' more. :)

I guess nobody - but I didn't write that Bob Negen did.

I think he's fairly obviously talking about blaming and not doing.

But I know what he's talking about (as do you) - I see examples of what he talks about all around us, including up in here.

Blamers and "if wishes wuz fishez" types - that want the world not to be what it is as opposed to rolling with the punches and changing along with it.

I think there's also proactive, reactive (often too late), and inactive (blamers).

Some of the answers I read here qalify.

(Hopefully it is fairly obvious that I'm talking about florists embracing the internet, or not. Too many are sadly so far behind the ball and that train also has left the station, IMO)

I Still believe that we should have a voice, we need representation in the companies that we serve so diligently remember the Revolutionary War Taxation without representation

Anyone remember this song by the Beatles

You do realize that FTD is a service provider, not a government, right? They are no different than the phone company, your internet provider, your wholesalers ...

Funny, I don't see Toronto florists whining about not having a representative voice on the Hofland board of directors :) No complaints about people that serve FlowerBuyer.com "so diligently."

Truth is, most smaller WS fillers are embittered against the WS and shorting on filling the orders - that's not diligence, that's theft.

If you don't like the service or the prices offered by FTD, you don't have to stay. If you are making money - stay and make money. We don't need a revolution, we don't need more hiedous black and gold websites ... we need florists who are professional business people who make rational decisions for the betterment of their companies.

If your phone lines are too expensive - or if you have too many phone lines - you drop them. If your wholesaler is too expensive or gives lousy service - you drop them. If, however, they give good service, or offer products or services that allow you to increase profits, you use them. Such is life.

very good point.

They are in this for their own interest, and will continue to do business that way. (As they should, its nothing personal) It is up to us to decide whether or not to continue using their service under that yoke, or move on. It is about lack of control over our own destiny. It's power that was given to them a long time ago, and now we have to live with it. (Or take action, which is always harder)
