Working? Taking a day off? I am a lucky ol' freelancer right now so I have the weekend off. My main "customer" (shop I work for regularly) was gonna be closed but now is considering being open. Her shop did not get the memo that you're supposed to be slow in July lol so she is thinking she'll lose out by being closed. Anyway she is just going to work rather than pay us to be there. (which makes me think of another thread idea...:ninja:)
SO... I am gonna be spending a little time in Chi-town with family but most of it just chilling here.
 
For the second year in a row we have a large family funeral with set pieces, etc. for a Sunday viewing. Guess where I'll be this weekend?!?! I'm planning on coming in on Friday during the day - hit the fireworks at night and be back on Saturday then off to a pool party. Then back on Sunday to deliver. Last year's funeral was the works - 14 set pieces on top of all the family work. I'll take whatever I can get going into slow July!
 
The 4th is my favorite holiday!!! It's a HUGE family tradition/competition to set off fireworks and my husband is the new fireworks king. He bought about $500.00 worth of fireworks to set off...he's got a remote box thingy that hooks up to fuses...the whole nine yards. The guys never can wait until dark. They are usually setting off "boomers" at about three in the afternoon. We have a blast!

I'll have to post pictures if I'm not too inebriated!
 
Had planned on being closed. But we have 6 funerals between today and Saturday so I'll be working. Thank you Jesus, we need the money, it has been slow with funerals lately.

I would totally be there if I could!!! I squeeze my big behind in a swimmin' skirt!! I LOVE SWIMMING pools!!!!!
Funny thing is, I can't swim worth a crap, My head never goes under the water, don't want to mess up my make up!!

I know, I'm ridiculous

we're on about our 20th funeral/burial of June/July....
Have burial flowers to be delivered at 8:30 a.m. Saturday...
Two easel sprays, two baskets, 1 heart...I'll be working....
going on my 7th weekend out of 8 that I have had to work 7 days straight (not complaining....better to have something to do and money coming in)
Glad vacation is coming at the end of this month.
Enjoy and have a safe 4th..

Wow, all this time I thought I had the best potato salad. But no bacon here.. that must be the difference! I reluctantly hand over the crown.......

We will be up to arse's in weddings, one of the weddings for Saturday, which by the way all is done except the personal things, Was just canceled today, Hey we are all paid, yes the groom left the little darlin, So so sad, Strange, I am the only one who saw this coming, the planner who is a dear friend of mine is so sad that I was right, and last minute wedding came intoday, and sold it for them to use, at 10 percent off, Yeah,,,So I will have an early Saturday night, Can you tell, I am heart broken,,,LOL. No refunds darlin,,,,,,,Am I being mean, no just a little,,

My brother's house is surrounded by The Antietam National Battlefield. Every year he has a HUGE party,we watch the fireworks they have on the battlefield and my brother has some as well. Everyone just camps there for the weekend. Lots of family and friends and kids running around everywhere. Smore anyone? I make THE BEST SMORES ever, no graham crackers here. : Fudge striped cookie, roasted marshmellow peep, sliced strawberry, hershey's special dark chocolate (or resses cup) and topped with another fudge striped cookie. OMG GOOD !!!!
great now I'm hungry.

Gonna get everything done, and closing the shop for the weekend.

We are moving our shop this week....sooo I guess this is my vacation. I am dealing with complete chaos, and I'm exhausted. Someone should have clues me in that I am just to old for this.
 
Husband Ron will fire up our restored '59 Mack and take me and our youngest child(furbaby Lhasa Apso, Daisy Mae) to ride in the classic car section of the Round Top, TX 158th annual celebration parade. Afterwards stay for BBQ lunch with the 1000+ other people, then head over to my parents for evening BBQ, but no fireworks!! burn ban in effect for our area, due to drought.
Back to work on Saturday for an hour or two at the most to handle pickups and deliveries. Landlord is painting pressed tin ceiling in our shop Friday, Sat and Sunday.. Next Monday will be spent putting everything back in place. Tomorrow we will be doing weekend orders, a wedding and putting everything up and away for the painters. Competitors are closing tomorrow at noon (so best laid plans will probably go.....)

Early morning bike ride:scooter:
afternoon going to hear a friend play in a band 1-4pm
BBQ with friends 5pm-bringing my "famous" ribs
Fireworks with the gang after dark
so blessed to have great friends to share it all with!
Oh, and my oldest son who has been in California for 3 weeks with "the girl" is coming home in the morning! I'm hoping he's still single, since I know they went to Vegas for a few days...it's no wonder I'm grey! LOL
 
It really is that good!
Shannon's a great cook all the way around, that girl knows how to throw a party!
BTW Shannon - Suzanne got her pool so I'll be swimmin Saturday! Will be needed after Nat (our asst. manager) & I hike a 14'er! (if I make it back that is...)
