Vintage Corsages

There was a place in Los Angeles that sold all the vintage stuff to make the corsages and the wired ribbon roses. When I first started messing with silk flowers I made my own out of the petal kits and stamens, hand wired. I could see that size of a corsage sold as an accessory for a beautiful straw hat, we have gorgeous huge peonies that would be nice for this, not sure I could get $60 for them, but you never know. We have straw hats, maybe I can play with that after I get back from vacation. I love vintage and the styles of the 40's especially.

Fly, I need to follow your advice in setting up a store on line. You do have a good eye for whats hot and not. Thanks for the idea's

I would have a separate web page made that was spunky and upbeat. I would then start sending digital photos to the hundreds of design and wedding blogs out there, they love this stuff and are hungry for new material.

Funny, I was just planning on making a bunch of faux corsages and displaying them here.... people turn their nose up at silk or permanent flowers "in theory" but when they are standing there looking at a gorgeous flower that they're unsure is real or not, well it starts too look like a good value. They know this is a keepsake they can use over and over. So we're on the same page here. :) I personally may go a little more modern in my designs but yeah this is great. Thanks for sharing yet again!

We look at that and think.....What a great idea....or not.....but have we forgotten the history of flower body adornment and what wearing flowers could mean?

In ancient times, the elite of the elite, only the crem de la crem wore a type of body flower adornment. Captain's of great armies would conquer entire nations, make slave of entire populations, would lend ther names and support to great works, philosophers, statemen alike vied to be the priveledged few who were graced with this badge of the highest honor.

Care to guess what I am speaking of ?

It is the simplest of designs, monofloral, uses only one type of leaf.....goes on the head above the ears.....but doesn't fully encircle the head.

The laurel wreath.

For that price you hope they are really real silk, seriously!
I like them for their general look/appearance, sorta Carrie Bradshawish but they do have a $2shop faux lingering distaste, probably the blue colour that ruins it for me, not quite vintage imo. I think I would feel duped if I purchased them.
