Yesterday we will really slammed with orders and worked until about 10:00 PM. My 19 year old daughter was exhausted when leaving the shop and new what I would be facing the next day with out her at the shop to help. (She is in college and has a 3 hour course and a 3 hour lab to attend on Saturdays.)
She needed to study for this exam, but stayed with us until we locked the door. She still needed to go to the grocery store to pick up a snack for her class. I gave her some money and told her I would pay for her class snacks and to please pick up chips and soda for the staff for us, and leave it inside the front door. Her apartment is attached to the shop.

This morning I woke up and check e-mails to see how many orders we had received on the website over night. I kinda freaked because the e-mail orders had all been read and the back office of the site showed no waiting orders. How could this possibly be???

I throw on a pot of coffee knowing that I will not have time once I am at work to make any.

I get in the shop and there is bagels and butter, fresh strawberries, and a pot of coffee waiting for the staff and me.
I opened the cooler and the soda and dip for the chips were there on the shelve.
I went to the desk and there sat a big bag of potato chips!
The website orders have all been printed with the credit cards run.
The TF.con orders that were waiting have all been refused.
The money I gave her to buy the snacks is sitting at my work bench with a note,"I did not use any of your money"
I was so amazed...so grateful, so touched!
She saw that there was a order to be delivered to my sister who is close by where her college is located so she delivered that on her way to class at 8:00 AM !
At 2:45 she arrived back at the store with pizza and soda and more chips, knowing we were probably needing a refuel and jump right in to help!

This day I will never forget! She made me so proud to be her parent and so grateful to have her as a daughter. This day she became the woman that I always hope that she would one day become.

This was a Mother's Day gift I will always remember.

Joan

You Should Be So Proud!

Wow -- what a wonderful daughter. I got misty-eyed reading your post, and was so touched that she was so thoughtful and caring. You should be so proud of her! I only hope that we can raise our daughter to be so considerate.

.....although this is not you and your daughter the
theme is the same. Special!
Thanks for sharing!

You must have a wonderful daughter. And she must have a fantastic mom, who leads by example.

Good for you, Happy Mother's Day!

Thanks Joan. This year I got to work with my Daughter. It was a real treat for me. She got the treat of being able to do something different than chasing 3 young boys around all day and being around grown-ups. Grandpa got to do that for 3 days instead!

Well i tell you Joan, you have obviously done something right!!

What a kind and considerate daughter you have xx

What a wonderful and precious story!

One of my twins who has worked for me during summers (she's a teacher) worked Saturday and refused all pay. She's getting married in Oct., and her mother-in-law-to-be volunteered and came in Fri. and Sat. and logged orders, checked orders, and was generally a jane-of-all-trades except for designing. She had absolutely no experience with flowers except that she plants a few annuals every year. Her son (our daughter's fiance) came to help for an hour or two on Sat. morning, and he stayed all day helping with deliveries.

I do believe that Kerri, my daughter, has chosen well. We would have been in a tight spot without the help because we were also slammed, and I was not expecting the amount of orders or the rush.

My two sisters and two of my nieces and one of their husbands also came to help. All of them with the attitude of being ready to do anything that needed to be done. No prima donas.

Family is such a wonderful thing!

With tears in my eyes!
Happy Mother's Day!

THanks
Luc

So kind, thoughtful, responsible and caring. I hope my daughters grow up the exact same way.

Very few teenagers/young adults take such responsibility for their job, especially when school work or social events conflict with their job. They just don't plan well, or take the initiative to switch with a co worker or do projects, study, plan dr's appts etc. on their DAYS OFF. It drives me nuts!! If you're only schedules to work two days a week then do your work on the other five days. Make the dr appt on another day after school, not your day to work here (not a "sick" appt).

It's like there parents never explained that a job is an obligation, even as a part time sales clerk.

loved the stories!

Oh jeez... that just made my eyes leak all over my wine!.............

Congrats on a job well done...
You should be very proud!

This year I got to work with my Daughter. It was a real treat for me.

As Did I. My Daughter who will be 16 in September worked 7-7 Saturday and 7- 7 Sunday. During her quick lunch break at 3:30 Sunday after the other help had breaks she stopped eating and went back out. I asked her why and she said it looked busy and I thought they needed me. We had three generations working. She was a big help.
