It's amazing what can transpire over the span of 7 years. But, things were much different then. I go back and think how our 2nd store was just starting to see double-digit monthly growth back then...

I would not say SAF has any "blame" here... No fortune telling in this biz for sure!

...still, a crime is a crime.

Crash, bang, splat.

Some transition from Magazine Cover to Front page on some Crime Sheet?

Looks like the Honors Bestowed became the bitter sweet treat on the short road to ruin.

Maybe the SAF award is like the Sports Illistrated Curse, once you may it to there your career is finished afterward!!eves:

UPDATE: Greg called me...

Just wanted everyone to know that I just got off the phone with Greg.

In summery, and without getting into the whole call, he has had a ROUGH time of it over the past few months, and is trying to get his life and business back together. He paid for the order that was called out to me via his credit card, and gave me a healthy explination of the cause of the problem.

I know from MUCH experience that communication with FTD can be - say - 'spotty' at times, and apparently the actual word of his shop's suspension did not reach him until after the order was placed with us.

Whatever the reasons, and whatever his issues with FTD, he said that he wanted to make good on any orders given to florists that were refused by FTD. So, he called me.

To this, I give him a lot of credit, and wish him only the best on his road to rebuilding his business and moving on with his life.

- Herb

Well done Herb... It's always good to listen before crucifying.

I'm glad Greg is working towards fixing what is wrong.

FTD has FINALLY....

acknowledged the problem at Katz Floral Design, which ceased to be an FTD member in June, 2006, warning shops NOt to accept orders of ANY KIND from them, by way of a MERC slimcast this morning!!

I can't help but think that a complete write up of "The Rise and Fall of Katz Floral Design" would be a fascinating case-study of the floral industry in the past 10 years and how changes with internet ordering, direct shipping, and wire service issues have reduced a promising, nationally recognized florist owner into a "MERC slimecast".

I'm sure a messy divorce could be a major cause (been there, done that), but still the framework for an very interesting read seems to be in place.

Yep and my understandng is that Katz just got his notice of his membership being cancelled...he acknowledges that he was suspended for a period of time but never had his membership dropped.Looks like maybe FTD used him as long as they could and when he got over his head decided to use the guillotine. They suck also my friend....as we all know they do not always tell it "like it is" .Why would they continue to send him cd updates, product etc if he had really been dropped...makes no sense to me

There's most certainly 3 sides to this story...

There's most certainly 3 sides to this story...
That reminds me of a saying my Dad used to have..."Mark, have you really looked at a coin?? People like to say there is '2 sides to every coin'..but if you look at one there is a 3rd side...that little edge between heads and tails. That's almost always where the truth is, that tiny middle".

I've found that he was right many more times than not...

Smart fellow your Dad.

A wise man indeed... and you are wise to have learned from him. :)
