Ankle here...butt level in some places. Lots of debris, downed lines, boats upside down. One overpass being built fell.1500 tons of concrete fell to the highway.Came in as a CAT 1 with winds projected at 65 that quickly came up to 90-100 and was suppose to cross from the Ft Lauderdale airport and head west...it made a sharp turn and headed to Miami after whipping us around and tore into Dade county with a vengence.Continued south to the Gables, South Miami, Kendall, Cutler ridge and Homestead. They really got it bad......No one was prepared as it was never forcasted to be ner Dade. Homestead and Cutler Ridge are really flooded..the upper Keys got twisted and now it is headed to the west and then up to the Panhandle. Our local guru's are red-faced and now saying it maight have been a little more than they anticipated..oh yeah...Some canals are blending in with the streets and we heard of one alligator swimming up the street while the idiots are letting their children play in the nasty water....but it is deep enough in some areas for jet ski's.
I am concerned about Barb from Blooming Gardens down there.have not heard from her at all.with the phone lines down I think they said over a million folks have no electric or phones.....Welcome to Paradise!! Thanks for asking and to all of you who called, sent pm's and emails.well you guys rally are good friends.and thanks for your offers for help...we are ok but let's find out how Barb is...she is in the bad zone. Take care all. We will open again tomorow but keep in mind for any orders that you send to Dade or Broward, let your customers s know that the deliveries may be slower than usual . Again.,thanks my friends....you know who you all are and so do I....I won't forget your kindness!!!! Sher

So glad to hear your okay. Did the drive-through survive the winds? About that alligator...maybe a new mascot for the shop???
Mom and Dad where in Avon Park for the last week, got them home yesterday, just in time.
Please take care and know we're thinking about all of you down there.

Glad to hear .......

all is okay with you. Hope the best for the others. Guess we don't know what wind and rain really are. Take care.

You did not see me because I didn't go to Dallas this year - my brother went instead (we trade off every year)! Hopefully, I'll see you next year. Wouldn't it be great if the Convention was held in Florida?!

Florida???

Shut up!.....florida???....July???What are you thinking my friend???.....I am thinking Canada or Wyoming......or somewhere where the temp is less than 110 degrees...
Did not know it was the brother.Just heard that your shop was there....so I feel better now!
Talk to ya later....
Sher

We've been praying for all of you down there! Heard one person on TV state that this hurricane was only a Cat 1. ONLY!?! A 1 can put you down for days.

I'd vote for Wyoming myself....5 people per square mile sounds good to me, and besides it has some of the best vistas in the world!

As to the weather...HERO in Baton down the hatches Rogue take care.... looks like it's gonna be a rough start to the week, then Katrina is projected to head up my way...we do need the rain...

Our power at the shop just came on at 10:30 this morning. No power yet at home. The huge tree that my shop was under- and I just payed to have trimmed last week, is now demolished and blocking the parking lot! Flowers in the dumper! Had to shoo a crab out of the store when I came in...
We are all ok- just hot!

Thanks for posting my little comic.we are all feeling tht way about now.........Went to the store and no power...everyone in our area near the shop is out, traffic lights, etc so gave a "funeral mass" for the product that came in on Thurs....plus the ice cream in the freezer that we all treat ourselves to in the afternoon...lots of mush. Even some of the banks are closed.
Spoke with Barb at blooming gardens and she has power at the store but none at home so she is getting a few orders out and calling it a day. Says she got a lot of orders from Florists for areas that she never deleivers to.....so I guess folks do not realize that much of the three counties are shut down. I would suggest that you call to confirm that they are even open....basic common sense .
Well thanks for all the thoughts guys....today we are working as basement betty's from the house!

SHER, Happy to help if you need it monday. Getting a "special" shipment today-from Miami. Wholesaler swears their cooler didn't go down. Can't wait to see how "special" it is...If we need stuff I'll call- Thanks for the offer!
Looks like we will be barbecueing at the shop tonight and sleeping here til the power comes on at home. Air conditioning is making me sooo happy. The guy is coming tonight at 6pm to cut this tree back can't wait to see how it will look.

Brooklyn has you in our thoughts and prayers

Our sister lives in Miami for 6 years now. This is the second time she has gotten hit by a hurricane. This time however she said it was the worst wind she's ever heard. She had a 50ft tree in front of her house that is now on top of the house. Power is still out. We're keeping her and all floridians in our prayers.

Look after yourselves ....

down there. Just saw an update and it's a Cat. 4 now and they are asking New Orleans and parts of Louisanna to evacuate. Looks like it just keeps spinning and gaining power.

Take care and the flowers can be replaced. You can't.

Cat FIVE now..... Nawlins expected to be in the direct path with land fall around noon Monday....

If it remains a Cat 5, they are expecting storm surge of up to 25 feet above sea level, and remember Nawlins is below sea level. One report I saw this am said it will be possible that the flooding will take up to 6-7 MONTHS to go down....

Take care HERO... I be thinking of ya....
