There's been some talk the last few weeks about web images, so I thought I'd pass this along...

Florist Review is having a 1/2 price sale on their image library .... happy hunting...

http://www.floristsreview.com/main/viewproduct.asp?item=CDSETALL

Added: you probably want this too:
Use code 611TW in "special instructions" to get all 12 CDs for just $98. Good through 6/2/11.

Hey Mark,

Do those just come with images or recipes and suggested script...

Personally, I think there is a market out there if the glass/container salespeople would create nice, but basic arrangements in their products and give/sell the images when the product is purchased.

You have to make up your own words.... sometimes tough, sometimes not...

The nice thing about these, (and not all images will fit every shop) is that they are not wire service images, you price them for your store/market and they're inexpensive...

I bought them...I found that the JH everyday book is very expensive for my customers taste..I am having a hard time fitting in time to look at every picture and make an attribute to fit it so that people will order, as it is right now I am losing in the web market because I don't have photos of items web people want to buy...I am frustrated, Tired and just don't have the time right now because of the rapid fire holidays, prom, parties, weddings, etc not to mention the learning curve and the amount of devoted time it takes to sit at the computer and do these things...one thing I liked about my TF website is that it was done...My new ebsite ranks well, but selling anything is a whole different story, I have already gotten calls from people complaining about the prices and just don't have the time to deal with it...

You need to find time. Your site is no longer on auto pilot. You need to wok on it every day. Just do a few things every day and it wil get better.

Lori, It's an ongoing process to manage the web site. It does get easier in time and once you have a year of your own photos you can take them on and off for the seasons with out needing all new pictures. Start photographing everything that you send out the door and then you can pick the best pictures to go on your site. Summer will be here soon enough and you will have all kinds of time to work on it.

I know the problem I am at right now is that I need to have a block of time to sit with someone at strider and get a lesson on a couple of things in order to get to where I want to be..I have uploaded a bunch of pictures, but I need to get the attributes straight and I need a block of time to actually sit with Theresa and get a lesson....it isn't anything that Stridre is doing wrong it is me finding time to organize with another individual...and the fact that I don't have any smallish arrangements in my picture arsenal worth putting up...that part stinks...I did see a bunch on the new cds.. even as I type this, i know people will say I could be using this time, but it takes me couple minutes hit and run to do this stuff, website takes up blocks of time...I will get through it, it is just a sucky time right now...is there ever a good time, not!!!!

I hear you on the time thing. My website is extremely time consuming.

Why do you need small arrangements? Do you have to resize them to put them up? That would add so many hours to my web time it would drive me nuts. Mine all defult to the same size regardless of what size they are when I upload them.

Every month I have to put aside an entire weekend to work on my website. That is in addition to all the other hours here and there that I put in. It's so worth it though. It easily accounts for half my business. Easily. I remember that when I am putting in the hours.

One idea:

Take a photo of a mass of flowers. Upload it to your website. You can use it to promote a "designer's choice" arrangement. We named ours "Glory of the Garden" on our website, and promoted it as the best value and quality of today's market. Give it a lot of price options. (Ours starts at $29.95 locally.)

We get a lot of orders for it. :)

Also the JH images with the baskets are LARGE baskets with flowers all around. I adjusted the size on some and made them less expensive. Also you could say it is one sided and put about 1/2 of the price if this helps give you more price ranges. I know I need to go back and look at some of the prices a little closer as well, to get more ranges. Just a thought.

Lori, I think when you say small, you mean dollars right?

Do what Linda suggested, I have five of those on my website. I have Designer's Choice Eye-Popping, Ocean Song, Brights, pastels, and Monochromatic. Each of those has three different price points. The $75 is the most popular for me, and I have it listed as the size of a dozen roses, or the size of a soccer ball. Things like that give you a lot of room to work with what you have in stock.

Ocean Song is my most popular blend.

Linda, May I use your idea? I have been looking for a simple way to put designer choice on the website.

That makes a lot more sense. I get it now.

Linda, I love your size descriptions using the visual guides. I am about to totally re-do my designers choice section and so I've been thinking a lot about how to add sizng guidelines. Actual measuements seem hard to visualize in flower arrangements.

Go ahead. You can even "steal" my images if you want. It isn't my idea, lots of people do it. With the exception of brights, which I cobbled together in my computer with individual flowers, the others are just cropped images that were not mine, I think they actually were from the Florist's Review images.

Hi Lori,

Once you get into a routine it is easy and not very time consuming to update your website pictures. I have been doing this for 6 years now so it is second nature to me. I take pictures of everything I do and they are all sorted by month so at the end of every month I spend an hour or two changing all the arrangements on my monthy special section.I don't change the other sections as frequently but I do change them with the seasons so that the flowers shown will be available. I am lucky in that my website has a program with a box checked "in stock" or not so I can keep all the arrangements on my admin section all year and just click the box to either have them show or not show on my website. I always have a designers special which is just a square close up of flowers.I use Picasso for editing my pictures down to 300 pixels which is what I need for my website. This just takes a few seconds to do.
When you have your own website it does become a priority to keep it current. I do always have a full price range especially in the monthly special section but to be honest surprisingly it is the most expensive and mid range arrangements that sell the best. I hardly ever get people buying the less expensive choices.

I am stuck on attributes and for some reason the first products I uploaded and made are working but the others seem to not have made a page for themselves..I am totally lost. I sent a message to strider support so that maybe I can get some tips on what I am doing wrong...I know that once I get the pages set the way I want them to work everything will be fine..I wish I had realized before I went live how important it would be to have multiple choices for each arrangement...I have plenty of visitors but no calls even inquiring, I know people are not liking it because I used to get at least 2-3 calls aday inquiring about arrangements, this really has me concerned...I cannot afford to be losing web orders all because I don't have what the public is looking for...

Lori, did you put the new pages on after your website went live?? If so you have to go in through the back door and not through the email that was sent before it was live. it will be your web address and then /dashboard. This happened to me, none of my pics were showing up and it drove me nuts for 2 days until I finally sent the ticket and he told me what I had done wrong. Not sure if that is the problem with what you are doing but it's one of the few things I know how to fix! Good Luck.
