Crazy weekend here. I'm just getting home from the shop (it's 11:22pm) and I have to be back at 6:30am and will pick up the rental truck at 8. Three weddings tomorrow. Two big and one small pick up. Rehearsal dinner tonight (finished).

The one venue for tomorrow dropped the bomb on me and I now have to go and pick up at midnight tomorrow (by myself) rather than 10am Sunday as originally discussed. It's big enough to need a rental truck so I anticipate working until 3am since I don't have staff on this short of notice. (will get pick up terms in writing for now on...) Have to be back to tear down wedding #2 at 9am on Sunday followed by 3 consultations.

I AM TAKING MONDAY OFF!!! (I say that now, but I know I'll probably end up at the shop for one reason or another.)

Three weekends in a row like this and this is the first...

Thankfully, the weddings turned out AMAZING! Did you ever think of painting fiddlehead ferns? I'll try to post pics early next week of the gold fiddleheads from my "Vintage Hollywood" wedding.

I feel for ya. I don't know about your area but in DC we have a lot of guys from Salvador who love to work. I have a small army I can call for tear downs and the do excellent work. I pay $100 each for tear down whether it takes 1 hour or 3. I'll tell you what, some of the guys that work for me are better set up designers than freelance designers that cost me 25 per hour. They work twice as fast, lift twice the weight, and do it with a smile on their face.

Happy Memorial Day!

I played cemetary bingo today with the help of my 7-year-old. We have about a dozen out of towners who called and asked us to deliver flowers and place them on gravesites...and they never have the location correct. So we spent about an hour and a half tracking all of them down...and my daughter spotted them more quickly than me so I took her to Dairy Queen for a treat. Then, later this afternoon I get a call from a friend who told me about the tragic death of his buddy's wife. Heart attach at 51. She died quickly while driving and crashed into a building. Leaves behind a 13-year-old son. So, I swing back into the shop, take their order and give them my cell number, and have had a total of $600 in orders for the service which starts on Monday. So, my planned lazy Sunday will be spent going to Lincoln, an hour and a half away to get flowers from another florist that happens to be open tomorrow. I'm not complaining cuz I want the revenue. Prob doing the work on Monday morning so I can enjoy the rest of the day with family on the lake.

Funeral director called me this afternoon and told me another shop could not supply family flowers on Monday.

guess who can?

besides that, at 5 pm tonight i went out on 3 different cemeterys 6 miles south of me. one 10 miles north of me and two right in town....

add it up three, right? ;)

I made close to $1K in cem silks today.

for those of you not capturing this market..... shame on you.

it is easy and profitable.

besides the artificial I have fresh stuff to get out early -- pre 7am on Mon. then I have to do the organizations.... Vietnam veterans, VFW, catholic war vets....

unfortunately the Carlyle American Legion won't be represented.....

no one wants to volunteer........... which is a shame.

2 Wedding, tons of rain, late night tear out, table decor were 6 staggered height vvases from 48 - 12 in tall, dump water, hardly any help!

Thank God for Weddings!

Hope you alll enjoy your weekend too. Life is good.

Well our planned Sunday bike ride to the ABATE Memorial Day event was wiped out by rain, rain, rain. I know those guys plan that all year, they bring in the Vietnam memorial wall and I used to do the memorial spray for them. Then it's an all day picnic and band jam. No Bike today so sad. Hopefully it will clear up by tomorrow and we can ride, also BBQ planned for two of our group (the grey haired motorcycle gang)members birthdays.

One designer and I were at the shop until 8:15 last night working for 3 funerals. After church today I went to the shop for 2-3 hours to finish some designs and get them delivered. Returned to the shop to make a banner which read "Mom" when one of the families had the funeral director call me to tell me that the casket saddle was supposed to have that banner in addition to the "Grandmother" one that was on the spray. The family was wrong, and I was right, but nobody cared but me so I made their extra banner and delivered it.

I'm planning to have breakfast with Hubby and work in my yard tomorrow. If, however, a call comes in for funeral work, you know where I'll be. The yard can wait; the bank account needs all the help it can get.

Remembering my mom, celebrating my fathers birthday ,my birthday, and right now enjoying the smell of my daughter and wife cooking my favorite meal crab cakes mmmmmm. Going to eat polish off a bottle of bubbly play a game and sleep in. Happy Memorial Day! Thanks to all the veterans (including my dad) who make freedom possible! God Bless!
