What do you charge for a wireout?

International I would charge; however, on domestic we do not have a wire fee. I don't belive in charging my clients to do biz with me. I know, I have to pay for the service, BUT that is the cost of doing biz. We used to charge a $5 wire out fee. Then, we offered those with corporate accounts and those who are VIP card holders with us (loyalty program) no wire fee and then this year we axed it altogether.

When I go to the grocery store and buy my breakfast cereal, I have to pay for the milk too.

Same here - our local customers pay no fee - we do get our incentives from the wire services.

Gets them that much better value.

and they charge you a fee for selling it to you as well?

I charge a service fee of $6.95. Have for the last 15 years.

I use Flower Shop Network, I place the order FSN online send it to FSN and they slect a local florist ,charge me $3.99 relay fee. I then pass relay fee on to my customer,
Example -
Flowers arrangement $55.00
Tax $3.79
Delivery fee $10.00
Relay Fee $ 3.99
Customer is charged $72.78

FSN then debits my account $55.99, my pay = $16.79 .

It's not a fee Bloomz, it's a service, as you say opinions vary.

If that's the case why does TF charge us to do biz with them???? hummmmm??????

Do you charge your customers delivery FEES for service?? humm?

I see charging a wire service fee as comparable to charging a delivery fee.

Why do we charge a delivery fee? To pay our drivers, and for our vans, and gas, insurance, maintenance, etc.

TF is the van, we still have to pay TF to provide that service.

NOW, if someone does not want to pay the fee, we give them a phone number of a local florist to call, and let them handle it from there. Our customers are always appreciative of it.

But if our customers want us to use the TF network to send their flowers, then they pay for it.

FSN selects the florist?

Do you have the option of selecting the florist yourself??

I also do not charge a wire fee. I stopped charging about 6 years ago. I was trying to build up my wire out business and figured I was already getting 20%.

Now that I'm really, really, almost definite on droping my Teleflora membership, I'll have to consider a wire out fee for sending out orders direct to other florist.

Yes they do - and we get a rebate and 20% of what they order for providing that $ervice....

This compensates us for our Service quite quite adequately.

We don't find the need to add an additional fee/tax/tariff/charge to that.

But I do know - that's our "dirty little secret".

Now...

Did someone get up on the wrong side of the bed today?

the answer is yes....unless the area that you are sending to is not serviced by an FSN shop, THEN FSN "chooses".....

No wire here. I charge 12.95(which is what I keep) and give 100% of order to receiving florist. I don't make or take 20% & I don't ask for a discount.
I would rather pass on the order as a service to my client, and yes, I charge for my
service.
I make $12.95 on the order whether it is for 50.00 or 150.00. Takes the same amount of time to relay.
if they don't want to pay the service fee, I have no problem looking up a number to
suggest to them to call themselves. They are appreciative either way. Many will pay
the fee because they don't want to do it themselves.

No Bloomz,

Didn't mean my post coming off as "testy"

I just find the 20% is more of a balancing act against the wire in's where we are really only being paid about 60% with all that TF charges.

But hey, no biggie!, Thanks for the dot you loveable elephant you!

Don't you get a rebate and I'm a hippo can't you see my picture?

So kick back on the greens my grumpy sistah.

Bloomz, I'm not being grumpy! geez....

sorry they look like elephants to me, either way, I still wuv you.

We've charged $5 since we opened in February, 2000.

For those of you who do not charge this fee, do you advertise that fact? I'm curious as to how you might word that advertisement. I'm thinking of not charging for wire-outs next week, as a special promo.
