What do you do when your not satisfied with your bridal bouquet?

I know what you mean about quality. We had a wedding last week where the roses came in the wrong shade and then they had spots on a bunch of them. Not bactritus (sp?) but just spots. Ugh! How do you explain to brides about quality controls issues over which you have no control?

Anyway, this bride was spending three times what my other brides seem to spend so I wanted everything perfect for her. She was very happy with the outcome so I too should not worry as much but I am a perfectionist.

When it's gonna be a full bouquet, I always tell the bride it'll be a handtie look, but have a water source still. Almost all my brides walks in wanting "natural look" of handtied but they haven't an idea that handties need water through out the day to hold well, especially in June/July/August.

I also find that it's easier to manipulate to get exactly where you want the flowers to be when done on the oasis holder. No one suspects a thing during the wedding because they can't tell the difference and their flowers lasts! Many of my brides take their bouquet to the honeymoon and leave in their hotel room.

I only do "real" handties on large calla lilies.

I think I offered this option to her, but she declined. It worked perfectly for last week's wedding and, your right, you really can manipulate the placement more. Sometimes, though, I feel like I need an oasis holder the size of a globe to get all the stems to fit!

At 1st I was annoyed by this, but now, I appreciated it because it prevents me from putting too much flowers in the bouquets.:thumbsup

do you use a glue gun to hold the flowers in place or are they ok on their own. I always hand tie my flowers but occasionally think that this would work better with certain flowers to get a neater look. (we dont have to worry about the weather so much over here lol).

When doing a shower i obviously use holder but glue in all trailing stuff and wire it.

Um, no, I guess I'm not sure what you mean about a glue gun. I did use cold glue to affix some of the aggies but I can't imagine where I would need to use a glue gun? Please elaborate, because I can't imagine ever using hot glue with fresh materials (debate on previous threads).

I think everyone goes through this sometimes, and when you expect the worst it works out, and also,,when do you get your flowers in, and also I would shop around for better pricing on flowers, 1.60 a rose, darlin it ain't VD. Also don't give out sizes it will come back and bite in a big way, and it all work out,,,,

Unfortunately I don't have stock. If I did I'd bury my nose in it and drift off to dream-land!

The thought did cross my mind to get up early and get more roses but the chances of the wholesale even having any is slim to none. Besides, for a $168 bouquet that I had already added more callas and roses to, I wasn't going to use $12 worth of gas to give away more flowers.

I re-did the bouquet. I was not happy with it and I just couldn't let it go out the door. I added several stems of aggies and that pretty much did the trick. I personally don't care for the bouquet but it is close to what she wanted. The picture she showed me was very neat and orderly with little aggies spaced evenly amongst the roses. The finished product doesn't exactly have that feel, but it does go along with the body flowers and the bridesmaids flowers that have funky wire in them.

It's just been bad vibes from the get-go. When I realized I previously took out the last pack of light green tape from the box and now have 3 rolls with very little on them and nothing else left but dark green, I already knew it would be bad (I hate dark green tape!). Then I've been having a rose quality issue. At $1.30-$1.40/stem I expect perfection and I'm just not getting it. Have a whole bunch of Anna's come in Monday and a couple days ago they were getting bad. And, of course, the spray roses didn't match the regular roses EXACTLY and that was really bugging me. And then the aggies wouldn't open. It's funny that no matter how many weddings I've done, there's always something new to learn! Thank God I don't usually do a lot of them on a regular basis or I'd be a wrek! The main lesson I've learned from this is don't let the bride pick too many specifics just in case things go wrong.

I'm posting a pix of the bouquet. Keep in mind that hand-tieds are just now becoming popular here and I have yet to hone in on the best way to make my hands do what I want them to! (And the lighting sucks too).

Thanks everyone!
Very Pretty I am sure she will love it well done
