Just came from delivering at the funeral home. I set the casket spray and turned around to see a peace lily in a small 4" pot inside another 6" ceramic pot. The plant was black! Yes, so dead, it was black! Although it wasn't from my shop, I offered to replace it because I hate seeing this at a funeral. The FD told me it was from ProFlowers! Went on their website and found that the customer had to pay $39.99 for this plus $9.99 for the container PLUS whatever their "delivery" fees are. The FD said to leave it because he wanted the sender to see the crap they paid for and that he would tell them that I offered to replace it for them at no charge even though it came from ProFlowers. I am blown away that ANYONE would send this with their business name on it and still sleep at night!

I don't think hospitals and funeral homes should accept the DIY flower kits from Proflowers in the first place. But what can you do?

PF should be forced to stipulate that all flower orders be sent only to recipients who are living at the time of delivery! Honestly! Why are consumers so lazy? If they're going to order on-line anyway, then they're obviously smart enough to do a search for a real florist in that particular city.

Unfortunately the sender is clueless, she is looking at a picture that looks Ok and works in her price range....they don't know that it's being shipped in a box, and if they do shame on them for ordering it!

The sad part is, they probalbly did a search for funeral flowers for your area, and chose PF, becuase their ad hit them right in the face!

I guess they didn't see the super bowl TF commercial LOL!

Oh well, at least it sounds like you are in good with the FD, and it was nice of you to offer to replace it!

One of our funeral directors takes the proflowers or any other flowers that show up in a box and puts it in the viewing room as it arrived, yup in the box. He said, I'm not a florist, I am not going to touch those flowers, they go in the room as he received them.

I just choked on my trail mix!!

That would stop people from ordering from them! If we could get all FDs to do that, oh my, how much more quickly the word would get out.

Our FD give the box to the family he does not even open it. Said he is not a florist and will not put things together. I think more of FD's will be doing this as it also looks bad on their part too.

And here is how the story ends.....the FD said the family that sent this paid $63.97 total for this lovely piece of nature. The first picture is what they thought they would get and the second is what they actually got. There is about 3 green leafs up to the right. The picture is fuzzy but check out the black leaves to the left and at the bottom of plant. About two-thirds of this plant is broken and black! The plant is in a 4" pot and the ceramic container is 6" pot.

That is just sad. If I was the deceased I would come down and haunt PF.

ProFudgers knows EXACTLY what happens to flowers when they are exposed to the elements and still continues to sell the crap without a disclaimer about frozen (or overheated) flowers.

Here's what cracks me up, a customer will complain then get their money back and all is right with the world. Then they go right back to PF to order the next arrangement. Mostly, consumers are flower-oblivious and have no idea that freezing (or flaming) temps + a box 'o flowers = box of crap.

If they got that from a local florist they would jump up and down screaming and vow never to use that florist again.

Ugh...

ProFugglers

Or worse yet, they would leave that local florist a horrible review on Google. Why can't people leave reviews for PF on Google. Where is the justice, I ask you? :soapbox:

Negative reviews are left... however, the shills for PF always chime in extolling the extensive virtues of buying from PF. They last FOREVER, blah blah blah.

If the person who ordered that plant was "local" and was at the viewing, they should see the result. If not, they probably will never know.

Might be a good topic for 100 or so florists blog about ;)

Link up!

$63.97 for a 4" spath in a 6" ceramic container! That goes beyond being disgusting. And the plant dead! I have no words.

If the FD knew what the family paid for that trash, the family must have seen it. I hope I can still see the sparks flying tonight, even from this far away.
