Hey Everyone... It is J from JTV...
We are preparing for SEASON Three of JTV… gosh the time is flying by. I hope you have all enjoyed Season TWO... where we are doing a project every week and concentrating more on the Design of a project and techniques rather than info-mercial type content!

I have had a couple requests for some really FUN and Interesting techniques or projects for Season Three! For Example:
Using Color-Tex on Poinsettias
Creating A Light up Table-scape with Artificial Snow
Designing an arrangement in a tower vase

All Great Ideas...
So I am interested in what else you would like to see on JTV?

If I get your requests now, I can formulate the projects for inclusion in Season Three!
Season Three will air starting December 4th ,and include January and February… so it can include ideas for CHRISTMAS, NEW YEARS and VALENTINES DAY as well as ANY other Floral Design Notion,Design, Technique or ????!

Our Goal at JTV is to make each and every webisode and project as valuable as it can be for everyone that is watching!

Let me know your questions and design challenges, technical advice and wishes… so we can help make Season Three the BEST Season Yet on JTV!

I appreciate your continued support, constructive criticism and Positive energy that resides here at Flower Chat! I respect each and every one of your opinions so much!

Kind Regards...

J

Since your only a couple hours away... how 'bout doing the episodes in FC member shops?

Kind of a traveling road show ;)

On a more serious note... how about an episode using the Oasis Garland... door swags... window decor... what all can you do with those things anyway?

WE are presently working on remote locations... that is distinct possibility especially for those close by... Great Idea...

I saw the Oasis Garlands... they have been a challenge in both europe and asia,.... I was not in favor of adopting them as a USA product in my ten-year as a design director...

But Garlands are a great idea... let's try that!

Thanks for the input.. I appreciate it!

your pal

J

Ps... give me a shout.. [email protected] about your location for Further Location vidoeography...

Thanks
J

J, I was hoping the oasis garland was going to come up on JTV too! Just bought a case to play with- the samples looked so nice, but the size is smaller than I imagined. Looks like it will be a challange!!

Much happier with the new format, though last weeks episode did send me for a spin!!! LOL We are really enjoying the "how to do it" stuff and I pick and choose what to share with our staff as an educational tool.

How about some pomander balls- there seems to be as many ways to do them as there are florists. Maybe one on oraganizing the design room- always a challange for us creative types! Also it would be great to be able to order products directly on the website- the company/wholesaler you are using is just great! When I was finally able to get through to them they were fantastic, just the getting there that was the initial problem.

If you ever come down to film in the Miami area, we would be happy to have you at our (small) corner of the world in Hollywood!! LOL BTW it was very nice that you mentioned FlowerChat on the air, I hope some new folks joined us because of it!

holiday

Our shop would love ideas to speed up the design process at the holidays. Shortcuts, tips and tricks. Things that are taken for granted by other florists are a great blessing to some of us. Example, this was our first year to glue corsages completely and we are loving it!!!!

Thanks
Donna

Ps- great tips from the Houston show - we would like to see more of the same for those who could not make the 4 hour trip!!

OOOHH! I've got something, but I don't know if it's possible. When you go to most video sites, there's an option to view in "full screen mode". This would be especially helpful when watching techniques for design. Just a thought.

You are the BEST! Thanks for the great suggestions... we want to make it valuable... this HELPS!

On the FULL Screen.... Bear with me... I am about to go TECHY... SCary!

It is a question of BAND WIDTH...vs the Compressed Files we use to give JTV to you quickly...(ie.. so it feeds faster than you watch...) so it doesn't get caught up or glitchy...
We have explored the option of FULL SCREEN but then you would have to
a. wait for it download first and then BUFFER... (really slooooooooooowww!) 5 to 10 minutes to download and buffer..
b. watch approx 30-90 seconds and then WAIT... while it catches up...approximately 5-9 times per show...
c. shoot film, non-compressed then move to digital format... (like a MOVIE...$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!) Price of JTV goes up...:-(

We get the request every day...and MY tech guys assure me that there is some advancement coming in the next couple months (to a year) that will make this possible...

U-tube uses the FULL Screen technology..on their shorts...but unfortunately our 15 Minute length is the real challenge...if we were only a minute or even two...then it could be done...
but the size of the FILE to hold the information is HUGE...even compressed...

OH yeah...I almost forgot...we could not COMPRESS...then you could get full screen...but I would look like Carnival mirror...all STRETCHED out... IMAGINE how long the point on my hair would be...hahah!

THanks for your great suggestions... rest assured that BIGGER SCREEN is top of our list...as technology unfolds...

J

Had to check with my techs...
We already use... swf files or Flash Compression...
The Real issue is that we don't have a large enough portion of our
subscribers that have a fast enough connection...it would take most of them
99 hours + just to download... unfortunately...

We have a large amount of subscribers that are struggling with the files they size they are and/ or "choking" on the files...

We are ready... when the technology improves... but for now we are trying to keep the "majority" JUST Watching...the weekly releases...

Thanks for the advice... It is always good for me to question... and make sure we are doing all we can do...

Kind Regards...
J

happy roses

WHERE can we get Happy Roses from this week's episode???

Thanks

Donna

Not putting down, but....after the sample?

AND HOW MUCH IS THIS??????????????????/
I'm sorry, but to watch this is it weird stuff that you never use or what? At least that is what I got from the sample view. Is it mainly for beginner florist or people that do not have creative ideas. I do understand the concept of from start to finish and that is very good, but what do you offer someone like me that has been in the business and a designer for 31 years? I learn new stuff all the time with state conventions, shows , etc., but what I am trying to understand is what type of audience are you wanting. Maybe I am just weird and not getting it!
Sorry, but not impressed at all. To each his own.
My thoughts only,
Cyndi

It might seem that way, Cyndi. For those of us that don't live in a metro area, who can't attend a lot of workshops, JTV has turned us on to several new products - the floragene carnations, the new Design Master paints, and those styro trees. My mom (Shirley) has been in the business almost all my life and she says she learns something new each episode. We knew that Pokon would take pollen off our hands, we'd never tried using it to get pine pitch off our hands or our desk. There are times when we've looked at the webisode and thought 'you know, if we...' and ended up creating something entirely different.

For me, I don't design. Not because I can't - I can, but because I have other duties that keep me out of the design area. For me, watching JTV has fuelled my creativity to think of new display ideas, different product presentations and even window displays. Any day you learn something new is a good day in my books. My OneNote 'ideas' page is full of ideas sparked by J - I fully intend to use staged presents next year under the tree. That was a completely new concept to me.

I'm with Audra ...

I get little ideas and ways to use items such as the sprays (Just for Flowers) ... I've started using them for permanent flowers to change the colours and it's endless ....... I use the crowning glory to get rid of the pollen off lilies ... it's saved me money. It's like any design show or seminar (and we don't get very many this way) ... if you can take one small idea and use it then you just made your life easier or more money. I love getting my webisodes each week, and I preach alot too.

Thank you Audra! Got it!

Not understanding that some can not or have the option to attend things like I do, now it makes since!
And yes, even some of the pokon and other floral products at the booths during shows do not tell you what else you can use the product for, so if that is on the show that's really great! I guess with the sample that I saw gave me a very bad impression...
So if I were to suggest things on the show it would be along with instruction giving lots of tidbits with each product that is used during that time.
Like Boss suggested, go to some shops close by, but I would suggest going to all sizes or shops in all size towns to help people like me and others understand what each other goes thru on a daily basis of surviving as well, not just techniques on how to make a corsage, maybe a whole series.
I apologise for being so self centered and not understanding that some can not or have the options that I have available to me.
Best of Luck with the shows success!
Cyndi
