So, today is Election Day and I am on the ballot for Village Clerk. I've been out electioneering all morning and now I'm in the shop making 8 pieces for a funeral, plus a casket spray then back to the polls I go.

It's looking good for me, so far, from the turn out I've seen but...of course you never know about these things until the bitter end.

Wish me luck :>

Thank you all for your kind words. I'm up against a woman who has run unopposed for the last 20 years...yeah, I'm an idiot ;)

The Village Clerk takes minutes at the council meetings, creates the village budget, writes the paychecks, and balances the books...pretty much. I get to take classes on accounting and that's one of the reasons I agreed to run. I'm pretty good with the books but, a couple free classes never hurt anyone :)

I've never been involved in local politics but, I really care about our community and it's in dire need of a local government shake up. So, I found myself right in the middle of it all ;)

Heather Dear....my...my...my...already keeping secrets and you're not even elected? You wait til the day of the election to clue us in? You will indeed make a fine politician! You've got spunk, girl, I give you oodles of kudos for running against a woman who has been unopposed for the last 20 years! Hooray for Heather! Please let us know the election results...I'll be rooting for you!
 
Oh Heather...it's 8pm your time and I'm sure you have the results (mine only took 17 minutes after the polls closed).
I've been in office since May and knowing what I do now not sure if I'm wishing you luck or not (ha ha ha).
Good Luck to you! We're all pulling for ya.

Heather...I just looked up your results page. What's your population? I can't believe there were less than 150 votes in the whole town!

WAY TO GO! Beating someone with 20years experience, that's BIG.

My congrats to you. Holding office is an interesting/confusing/enjoyable/eye-opening/rewarding/cat and mouse game that's given me a few laughs and much gratification these last months. I wish all the same to you.
