If your temps are warmer, it must be because someone upstairs feels sorry for dumping all that snow on you two years ago.

It's only -10 here currently but they tell us that's it's going to warm up - yea, right!

-30 this morning....went all the way up to -25 today and they say -17 by tomorrow morning......freezing rain and +2 for Thursday!!

We just love delivering flowers at Christmas...NOT but then again we can do it and FEDEX, UPS etc do not have insulated vans, so that should put a damper on the direct ship flowers!

Yes it's been so so cold here in south florida--I think it was down to 50 last night 65 today...just had to gloat a bit I'm usually so jealous of you guys up north!! Stay warm!

Lorrie, that's cool; it was warmer here on the Rock last night than in Florida!!! 13 degrees Canadian (56 F). Had to turn on the Air Conditioning today. :>

TOO FUNNY- I didn't think about the celcius vs. farenheits! I was really feeling bad for you all delivering the flowers in such extreme conditions! Last night was 40 . We don't even have heat in our house so we were really bundled up. The dog even got under the covers! Have a great holiday!

checked the long range forecast for the weekend , Newfoundland will be a tropical 7-10 celcius for christmas , no white one , but at least we don't have to shovel it.

Well it was 10 below last night and yesterday high was 6 below fern. Today they say it will get in the mid 20s and its a good thing as we have a 1800 sq ft attached garage here that is insulated and heated we use it to route orders and we keep temp about 38 degrees. Well the heater died during the night its 35 in there right now but our repairman is here to save the day hopefully lol. :treadonme

Cold And Snowy

A real cold snap ont he wekeend and last night a foot of snow dumped. Makes a early morningto clear the driveway and to work for 6.

Twenty below yesterday, made today's 2 below feel like pina coladas on the deck kind of weather. ;)

We are apparently in for some kind of blow between now and Christmas... but that could change, the front could veer left at the red light and head anywhere. I do know that I'll not likely get to the lake for Christmas Eve because of the dumping they're getting.

JUST CURIOUS, how do you guys deliver flowers in that type of weather? Sounds like they'd be frozen before they got to the front door. We deal with the heat all summer but thankfully all thee major flower days are in cooler weather here. Inquiring minds want to know?? I find the regional differences in this biz real interesting.

We use very light weight clear plastic bags we have to buy 3 defferent sizes in order to cover the wide range of products sold. It adds a lot of labor particularly at holidays
We use celophane (weather above 0-f) makes a great "display" and is faster and easier than bags...weather below 0 it's paper...

I much prefer cello bags. They offer great display and protection and are less labour intensive.

Cello here, double wrap, or include tissue paper as an extra lining when it's really cold.

Cold, colder, coldest

Plants are in paper sleeves, arrangements are wrapped in plastic bags, cuts go in paper. All our vans are heated so the amount of time they're out of doors is short.
