I see TF are adding additional $2 on 5th; additional $4 on 6th; additional $6 on 7th and additional $7 on 8th to their $14.99 "service fee". FTD doing similar with their highest charge of $20.99 and 1-800's highest is $19.99. TF are also adding $10.00 for a delivery B4 1pm, taking a cue from FU. (I wonder if florists will see any of that $10 for the pre- 1pm delivery - I somehow doubt it).

Proflowers for a $39.99 piece, with no vase, is charging $30+ for all their handling inc "fuel surcharge".

Jezz, no wonder the public thinks they get ripped off at holidays with flowers. Has anyone seen the WS fees to the consumer as high as this?

In a way it is good for us if we get the info out to consumers that we do not charge all these additional, unnecessary, add-ons. Yet, it is also bad for us - the public thinks they get ripped off.

I had a man call yesterday--ordered through Teleflora for his secretary-we go the order -said he paid an extra 10.00 for quick delivery!!!
Asked if I got it ?!? LOL

Remember, THEY KEEP ALL of this...

BOSS<<<just shakes head that folks continue to fill...

Mind if I quote some of those figures to spatter along on my facebook page???

Scandalous, isn't it what they're taking out of the consumer without a hint of guilt.

If the consumer buys, from TF, a $100 arrangement (with delivery of $7.00!), for Sunday, 8th May, delivering before 1pm, assuming they do not live in OK, AR or CA where they pay tax to TF as well, the poor consumer pays them almost $133 while the unsuspecting florist gets $73 (at most) for flowers and the delivery and we help allow TF grab $60 - remember the $1.50 processing fee - for our efforts. It gets worse if the consumer buys a $40 piece (inc. delivery of $7!) for Sunday delivery before 1pm - they spend $71.00 and the florist gets less than $30 and TF take over $42.00. And guess who gets the blame if the buyer doesn't think the flowers look like $130 or $70 worth.

They need to add these extra fees so that they can make their margins still when they screw up and have to discount. They already know that they are going to have florists telling them they need more money to fill orders because the flowers are more expensive and they need more for delivery. They certainly are not going to pass that on unless they have to, but it gives them the buffer to give more money to the filler. The filler who does not ask for more....well....that's just extra for the ws.

It is at a stage now where outside of holidays, the average consumer is spending around $75 on a piece around $52.00 (after delivery taken out) and now at holidays $85.00 on a piece around $52.00 (after delivery taken out). Meanwhile, media call this, in some instances, the "best over-all value". What a joke - the WS and media.

You gettin dizzy yet from all that head shaking?
Naw... lot's of practice... but I should have said...

BOSS<<<just shakes head that florists continue to assist in the deception of the CONsumer. No wonder folks think flowers are expensive.

I am not filling for TF or FTD for mother's day. last year was a nightmare. The price points are too low for mother's day to give any percentage away. I am turning my merc and dove off on Monday and leaving it off until the Wednesday after Mother's Day. I won't be accepting any out of town orders unless I already have a relationship with that florist. If you guys need anything this way for MD week, be sure and let me know you are on FC.

OK Guys and gals. You have to hit them where it hurts the most and that is in their pocket book. Everyone should send price changes for every single order you get from order gatherers. Also look at the receipe and calculate YOUR PRICE. IF I get orders for codified items and they don't meet MY PRICE, they get a price change or refusal.

Just got a complaint on one of the 18 year olds clerks who's sole job is to reject undervalued orders (I owe her lunch when they get complains from .com or OG). Super, she said " you have all week to get these flowers" and I responded "you have all week to find someone to fill this order"..................I told her we are on "block desgining" here, so if is doesn't fit, you must acquit........(reject)

So the wire service complained to you that your employee won't take an under value order.. too bad so sad...
It will be a nice wire service for the most part free holiday here. (i have IRIS but rarely get anything in on it.. and Flowershop network for sending to the US, again rarely get incoming on it)

To explain further, we've rejected dozen or so orders today and they just wanted to know why?.........I will take the order if it fits into one of my 5 desgin blocks, but if not, it's out of here, unless, it's an affuent address, then I might take it just to market that person. The supervisor hadn't dealt with me before, she's new, she got educated................

TF headquarters called me 3 times today..I didn't even let them get past who they were...

Free, free it is so nice to be finally free of all the stupidity...all those extra charges are killing the little guy...why are people so stupid for ordering from them and then when florists here this they will still fill that 29.99 inc delivery order for the measley 18.00 they get....the friggin cart is running the horse round here...

LUC!!!!! Missing you!

I think it's so sad when people order at the last moment for a holiday, the O.G. is still taking orders but can't get them filled, so when the customer complains they just give them a coupon for XX% off and don't refund their money even if no flowers were delivered. People are learning, the hard way.
