I was told it had to do with a paid sponsor ad with Google, as I received a call wanting me to take a sponsored listing and they said this was part of the deal.

What does or does not get a link, and possibly some priority within the autosuggest can be based on your history.

Logically I would disagree. The one search term I search for the most is "La Jolla Village Florist" and it doesn't provide a link. I believe the provided links have to do with shear search volume of a specific keyword. With that said, wtfdik? :dunno:
